I believe the season 2 openier of "Friends" is a rippoff of the the 4th season openier for "A Different World".

What I mean is that in the beginning of the season Whitley wants to get together with Dwayne but he meets somebody overseas. The exact samething happened on the beginning of Friends 2nd season.
