wOW this one can go pretty deep. There is no doubt in my mind thta lucy loved Desi more than Gary. Keeping in mind Desi did cheat or "phialander" and that is by all means not right...but Gary I think more or less in the end was out for her money. He gave her bad advice about Life with Lucy and kinda pushed her into doing the series against her better judgement. She always told people " I could never top what I already had" . She was sposed to do this documentarry thing with Lee called Seriously Speaking about her Life, for a little bit of money and Gary said He didn't want to seel her for under a million dollars. He was also noted by Frank Sinatra as bad mouthing about her in public. She was so miserable her final years. She missed her family and friends and the picnics that they ghad together. Gary pushed a lot of people out of her life and in the end he was out "golfing" all the time. So she was alone. When Desi died I think that was the end for her. She just gave up everything she lost her mom Dede, her pal Viv and now the love of her life. The one who helped her become the ultimate actress. So I would have to say Lucy and Desi 4 E!

I'd say definatly Desi. I've read several places that they both loved each other very much after the divorce. It's really sad that they couldn't make their marriage work. I'm sure Lucy loved Gary but never in the way she loved Desi.

I honestly believe that Lucy loved both, but Desi was really her true soulmate.

Cathy, I found this at tvnow and thought you would be interested in it.

Bob Crane: Since he's not around to defend his hit television series Hogan's Heroes, I'll do it for him. TV Guide's list of the fifty worst shows ever features the WWII comedy as the fifth worst program in the history of television. We're talking about the exploits of Hogan, Col. Klink, the loveable Schultz, LeBeau and many other fun characters trapped behind enemy lines. TVNow has no problem with The Jerry Springer Show being chosen as the worst of the worst, but placing Hogan's group in the list anywhere is a mistake.

The only person who knows the answer to this question is Lucy herself.
I believe that Lucy's heart always belonged to Desi. They were soulmates. They never stopped loving each other.

I don't know, I think Lucy and Desi probably reached a point where they stopped loving each other and got a divorce. Then the loves stopped and she fell in love with Gary. Queen Of The Gypsies is right, only Lucy could answer this kind of question.

I have to sy this though. When Lucy retired in the 1980's and was only doing appearences as opposed to steady work she started falling into depression. Many loved ones died and in 1986 Desi was diagnosed with Lucg Cancer and it was tearing Lucy down, Now she started doing Life With Lucy in Which Gary went behind her back to organize. Lucy always said I couldn't top what I had before. When Lucy went back into Tv she did it right and always got advice from Desi, who now was pretty much dispondent and in a great deal of pain. He was ill and she was depressed. Whne the show hit the air it did not get such great reviews. But Gary was in great spirits because when the show cancelled he got like 1.5 mill. Then Desi died and Lucy delt very alone, all the people she really loved were now gone. The friends she made in Desi' sera were no longer in her life per Gary's request. Gary was gone a every day "playing Golf" in a Frank Sinatra book he said that Gary would be at a club and totally bash Lucy behind her back. Plus from a couple people I myself talked to..their homelife was in serious deformation. Lucy had a few friends that on a steady basis came by and played backgammon with her, she had a few laughs but was very despondent and reclusive. If you read
I LOVED LUCY: MY FRIENDSHIP WITH LUCILLE BALL by Lee Tannen you will get a better idea on her life in the last years.
Let's go back to 1985, Lucy did the made for tv movie Stone Pillow as to which she played a homeless lady. She was wrapped up ina ll these linnens in 100+ heat and was diagnosed with Allergy to cigarettes, dehydration, and High Blood Pressure. There were certain foods she was told to stay away from, Mostly salt....stil she drank these margarita's and sardine sandwhiches and Gary would tell people just let her have the salt. I have no doubt Lucy pined for Desi. I am sure she cared for Gary but Loved Desi. As Lucy once said " I liked Gary before I loved him" and she always described him as ugly/handsome.

Gary passed away in 1999.

No he didn't get all the money. He was left with a very small sum. And it was split three ways from what I was told. He did not even get the house in Beverly Hills. After Lucy died Lee Tannen her good friend came in for the Mother's day picnic in Lucy's memory. Gary insisted he and his friend stay at the house. Gary was moving things around and saying this is my house and things are going to be the way I want thme for now on. He was forced to put the house up by her attorneys. He put it up for 7 mill. It sold for under 2 mil. There wa some money left over for paying taxes and attorneys and left over hospital expenses and that was it. The studio was sold and all that was left was Lucy Ball productions which became a clearing house for fan mail and appearence requests. That venture was split between Lucie and Desi. In fact Immediately after Lucy died, Gary was dating. He eventually married some LPGA Golf pro named Susan Mac Allister. Who was like 15 years younger than Gary. She got the Palm SPrings house...that Desi and Lucy shared for 15 years. Gary had got the palm springs house after Lucy passed away.

Lucy and Desi were the loves of eachothers lives. Even Gary knew it. Shortly after she died, he turned to someone and said, "Well, she's happy now. She's with Desi." That pretty much explains it all.
