Unfortunate news, Carroll O'connor has passed away. Damn it all, I never got a chance to email him after we all just discovered his address on the yahoo groups AITF board. I had so many wonderful things to tell him and I am great regrets and I feel that I have let myself down and let everyone on this board and let everyone close to Carroll down as well. It is shameful that I couldn't have took the time in this last week to say what he meant to my life and how I appreciated his performances everytime I saw him. It is a sad day for me and everyone who had the same appreciation that I did for Carroll. In honor of his memory I am going to send an email to his still existing address and hope someone from his family gets to read it. Also in honor of his memory I would expect both TV Land and NAN to have AITF marathons and expect Archie's Place to be released to a network or on Columbia House video very soon. I whole-heartedly believe that this would be something Carroll would have wanted. I am very saddened right now. I'll talk to anyone via email if they need to express their feelings about it as well. But for now I will only be reading posts on the boards that I belong to and out of respect for Carroll I will refrain from posting for awhile. I suggest everyone cherish the memories and great emotional performances that Carroll gave us because that is now, sadly, all we have.

It REALLY shocked me when my Mom told me during the 11:00 news last night, that it sounded like ARCHIE BUNKER died, and, I still can't believe it, even now. I did assume that he had a heart attack, because he did have heart surgery, when he first started doing IN THE HEAT OF THE NIGHT. Before I heard the news, I saw that THE JEFFERSONS was in the ALL IN THE FAMILY time slot, and I assumed it was because of Carroll's death, but, ALL IN THE FAMILY was in THE JEFFERSONS time slot, from midnight-1AM

All in the Family will now be shown at the times it was shown earlier today (12am, 12:30am), this is a shameless act by NAN and I can't believe they made this change on the same day Carroll died. Many people will now be unable to watch AITF because of the late hour it is shown. I will continue to watch and be tired everyday at work because it's more than worth it to honor Carroll's memory.

I was so shocked when I heard the news of Carroll's death last night. My kids were in the living room watching All in the Family, and I was listening to it while sitting at the computer. I was reading the Yahoo news, and that's when I found out about it. I blurted the news out to my kids, and they were just as shocked as I was. I got them interested in watching the show, and now, they love it as much as I do.
There will never be another Carroll, and I'm so grateful for all the laughter and tears he gave me over the years. He didn't even have to speak a word. Just watching one of his facial expressions was enough to bring a smile to my face. I'm really heartbroken over his death, and very thankful we still have reruns to enjoy him forever.
I also agree that it was poor timing on NAN's part to begin airing All in the Family an hour later on the night of his death. It would be a nice tribute if TV Land would also include Archie Bunker's Place in their marathon.
Here's to you, Shoebootie..We love ya!
