It's nice that TV Land is doing this, since 90-minute episodes are difficult for local stations to air, and it's been so long since we've seen these episodes.
What I'd really like to see TV Land air are the three pilot movies The first has a different cast; Doc, Gopher, and Isaac appear in the second; and the third deals with the crew (now including Julie) adjusting to their new captain, Merrill Stubing. These are not in either "Love Boat" syndication package, and are rarely rerun. I'd also like to see the three TV-movies that aired the season after the show was cancelled. Julie returns as the cruise director in these specials, and Ace takes over as purser.

I agree, I would LOVE to see the three pilot movies. In fact, when I heard about this Friday night LB movie thing, I just assumed they were talking about the pilot ones. :( As for the specials that were on the year after the show was canceled, I'm embarrassed to say that I don't even remember them, and I love Julie!! How wierd!
I was able to bid on The Love Boat pilot episode on EBay, and won it. This was the very first episode, and haven't been able to sit through the whole thing yet--and I'm probably the biggest Love Boat fan out here.
There's something disconcerting about seeing Dick Van Patten as the ship's doctor.
I also stumbled across the second pilot episode when I was going through my tapes...
The only one I still can't find (and I'm pretty sure I have it somewhere) is the third pilot--the one with Gavin MacLeod as the captain.

wanna bet???? :D ;)

I'd happily take that bet. :)
This show means more to me than it probably should, but I still enjoy it a great deal. I've been looking for people who enjoy The Love Boat and admit it!

OK, you're on!!! :)
This show also means a lot to me, and it has ever since I was
a kid. Some people laugh at me,but I'm not ashamed to admit
to the whole world that I love The Love Boat! In fact , I'm
hoping to go on the Pacific Princess' final voyage (yes, it's
true :( ) this October.

I can't wait to see it
It's kind of amazing, but I was feeling a little depressed this evening since I had a HORRENDOUS day at work. But the news that The Love Boat "movies" will continue into August cheered me up a great deal. This show has anti-depressant qualities for me. It never fails to cheer me up--even if just for a little while.
That's another reason why I like it.

How many Love Boat movies were there? Are they showing them all? And why wasn't Gavin MacLeod in the pilots except the 3rd one?
