Any update on the 2 Swedish hitch-hikers?

One of the more intriguing and scary cases UM has shown over the years was the case of the two Swedish women who left Breckenridge and hitch-hiked around California around 1983. Their belongings were found in a gas station dumpster and their bodies were later found in the woods by a hunter.

I remember seeing something about how the police located a suspect, a guy who drove a van with a canoe on the top, but don't know if he was ever charged with the crime or if it's "solved."

Any ideas?
