What is your favorite/least favorite old commerical? Old as in from the 50s through the 80s. The ones you remember growing up with.
A freind of mine discovered a compnay out of NYC called Video Resources and they sell volumes of classic commericals.
To be honest I dont really have a classic commerical that I dont like. Many of todays spots are ..well boring. Though I have seen many of local commericals that were cool.
The most interesting spots I saw through VR
were the old cigarette commericals. With the exception of Fred & Wilma Flintstone talking about the pleasure of lighting up a Winston ( the Flintstones really did hawk Winstons- hard to believe ) many of them were very well done. The down side is so many people started smoking because of the old cig spots.

I remember being really irritated by the old Calgon laundry detergent commercials when I was younger.
Customer: "How do you keep your shirts so clean, Mr. Lee?"
Proprietor: "Shhhhh...ancient Chinese secret!"
Proprietor's wife: "We need more Calgon!"
Customer: "Ancient Chinese secret, huh?"

My favorite commercials are three ads for Brylcreme from the early sixties. Each one featured a beautiful woman floating out of a tube of Brylcreme while tousling her hair. There was a catch phrase of, "Brylcreme, are you man enough to try it?"
The first commercial featured a blond and a gentleman with eyeglasses, dressed in a white shirt and tie. The man is standng there by himself with the blond completely hidden behind him until one sees her one hand run up and down his arm and her other hand rest on his shoulder. She then rests her head on his other shoulder. The man's brow furrows in a "what's going on?" expression as she removes his glasses. She begins to turn him around and he smiles nervously as he realizes what she is about to do. She cups his face in her hands and kisses him.
The comercial ends with her embracing him lovingly as she smiles into the camera and says, "Brylcreme..."
The follow up commercial features a man typing a letter to the makers of Brylcreme. He mentions having seen the commercial described above "...with the blond coming out of the tube." He continues with how good he thinks the product is, but asks, "What about that blond?" At this time a pair of hands appear on his swivel chair and turn him around. The hands cup his face and a woman bends down and kisses him while his voice over continues, "All I ever got was a redhead."
The third commercial involves a guy sitting alone at his dining room table which is set up for a romantic candlelight dinner. He opens his tube of Brylcreme and lays it on the table. Suddenly the tube stands on its end and a lovely brunette comes floating out. The guy's voice over says something to the effect of, "I knew she went for clean looking hair". The brunette sits on his lap, takes his face in her hands and kisses him.
Each one of these commercials has the message of use our product and get the girl. The second commercial even seems to poke fun at this concept when the man mentions trying the product because of the blond in the commercial.
Does the place in NYC have any of these commercials? How do I inquire about them?

Any McDonalds commercial with that stupid clown in it was bound to annoy me.
I liked the commercials with McGruff The Crime Dog in it and I also liked the commercials with Louie The Lightning Bug.
