Can something be done about all these pop-up ads? They're really slowing down, screwing up, and freezing my computer. I try to just let them fall behind the main window, but it doesn't help. A pop-up ad comes up every time I click on something on this site.

Unfortunately they need the ads to help pay for the site. You could use a program that stops popup ads from coming up. Ctrl W usually stops up an unwanted window in IE. Good luck!

Right on Cheryl. If I didn't run those ads, I'd lose $400-500 a month in revenue and I'm not in a positition to do that unfortunately - I have bills that I need to pay. I could ask for donations to help with the costs, but since the majority of people are school aged and don't have jobs that wouldn't work.

Pop ups/unders are a small price to pay I think for a free, fun, well-moderated place to be. I've spent a lot of time and effort with this and have reinvested large portions of what I've made to keep it going and bring even more people to it.

I do wish the company that served the ads (Burst) would do a better job of 'capping' the ads (i.e., limiting the number of ads per user per browser session). I doubt that you have been receiving ads "every time" you click on something unless there is a problem with your browser.

If the ads are truly annoying on this site (or any others for that matter), then Cheryl is right about trying one of those pop-up stoppers/killers. You can get them free from download.com

I understand the need for them. It's just that they seem to screw up my computer a lot. I'll have to try one of those pop-uo killer things.
