You may recall a segment about the 1997 murder of Rachel Timmerman and the disappearance of her infant daughter Shannon Verhage, both of Michigan. The story aired on CBS in 1998. Well, here's an update: Marvin Gabrion, the man accused of killing Timmerman, has been found guilty of her murder (in the first-degree). Gabrion is believed to have killed Rachel Timmerman to prevent her from testifying against her in a rape case (he was accused of raping her). Although Michigan doesn't have the death penalty, he could still receive that punishment since the murder is occured on federal property.

Sadly, Shannon Verhage remains missing. :(

It announces that Marvin Gabrion, has received a death sentence for the 1997 murder of Rachel Timmerman.

As you may recall, the murder of Rachel Timmerman and the disappearance of her daughter Shannon Verhage (who remains missing to this date) was featured on Unsolved Mysteries in 1998. Timmerman accused Gabrion of raping her, and was murdered so that she wouldn't testify against him.

Gabrion was tried for her murder in federal court because her body was found on federal property. He received a federal death penalty.

Strange. I wonder why I don't remember that case. I have lived in Michigan my entire life and never heard of it.

I especially remember the Michigan stories, like the Dennis Depue case (murdered his wife in Cold Water Easter sunday) and that case from the first season where the husband murdered his wife when they went horseback riding.

This story aired again today on Lifetime. They made a mistake at the end of the story. Robert Stack said "Shannon Timmerman's daughter Rachel was never found." Obviously, that is backwards. Rachel's daughter Shannon, was never found.

Ive had the AOL homepage for Shannon in my favorites for so long. Hoping one day Ill look at it, and find good news. I wonder if shes out there somewhere? The homepage hasnt been updated in quite a while, since around the time when Gabrion was first apprehended.
This is a sad story. I hope one day Shannon is found.
