In general, who do you think is more vain about their looks/appearance, men or women?

Well, confining my viewpoint to America only I would say that currently, things have almost leveled out.

Historically, of course, women in America obsessed about their looks more. However, I don't think they were motivated by pure vanity, but moreso by the idea that they would be socially isolated or rejected if they didn't conform to the prevailing beauty norm. In fact, on average, I would say that most people who worry about looking good aren't motivated by pure vanity, but of course some are.

Nowadays, I think both women and men obsess almost equally about their looks. Finally men are having to deal with the pressures of seeing finely sculpted muscles nearly everywhere they look, and I know just as many men as women who worry about their physique. And I see more and more women who wear what they find comfortable, instead of always wearing form-fitting clothes.

I think it's about equal... it seems almost everyone worrie about how they look!

I agree with Bootsy. Women definately used to worry about their appearance more than men but I reckon it's about equal now.
Personally, as long as my hair looks ok, I don't bother that much with my appearance. I can say with absolute certainty that I am probably the only female on the planet who has never, ever worn make-up!

I wear eye makeup everyday, but I hate foundation. My skin is so damn oily that the foundation will become all greasy and disgusting. Can't remember the last time I wore the stuff. That and lipstick. It dries out my lips and I end up chewing it off.
