I always knew the little pop tart was a nitwit and that she's one of the representatives of the downfall of pop music, but I thought she knew at least something about music.

The following article proves three things:

1.) Britney is an idiot,
2.) She knows little about music, an industry she claims to be a part of, and
3.) She's not into the whole thing for music, but just for her image.

I'm still laughing at this article as I type the intro. The fact that people like this have number one albums ****ing baffles me.

Britney Doesn't Know Yoko
By Roger Friedman
Fox News

You may wonder what the real Britney Spears is like. Or you may not. But in case you do, I now have something of a report.

You could guess that a girl without much of a formal education is no rocket scientist. She's not going to know much about the history of civilization, world economics, or how to split an atom. What you might expect is that she'd know something in the category of pop music, enough to play Rock and Roll Jeopardy on VH-1.

But here's some upsetting news. Brit was stymied on Tuesday night when presented with a pretty easy question. Here's what it was: "Who is Yoko Ono?"

The question came up because this reporter was having a congenial talk with the members of 'N Sync and some of their parents at the J Records pre-Grammy dinner. The gang was sitting at a round table front and center in the Beverly Hills Hotel ballroom. Britney was sitting with the group, between Justin Timberlake and his mom. I asked Justin, as I had asked him about a year ago, whether 'N Sync identified more with the Beatles or Rolling Stones, and where that might leave their rivals, the Backstreet Boys.

Timberlake replied, "Beatles! Beatles! Beatles!" Did that mean the Boys were the equivalent of the Stones, I wondered? "No, the Osmonds!" he laughed.

But immediately following this happy exchange, I queried the couple: "Does this mean Britney is Yoko Ono?"

Spears responded: "Who?' Her potential mother-in-law, Mrs. Timberlake, jumped right in and explained that Ono had been John Lennon's widow and broken up the Beatles. (This was strictly her opinion, this last modifier.)

But Brit didn't know what anyone was talking about. To save her, I said: "You're probably more Linda McCartney. You know her name, don't you?"

Spears again gave a question mark expression. "I'm sorry," she said in her rich Southern accent. "I'm very young."

Justin's mom, ignoring this exchange on purpose, then told us a story. "You see, you have to know who Pete Best is." Best was the original drummer for the Beatles, replaced by Ringo Starr before the band became a sensation. "Lance only became a member of 'N Sync the day we signed our contracts, because the original bass singer quit. So we call him our Pete Best!"

Granted, Spears has a great little body and has done much to show it off in her videos and concerts. So let's give her credit where credit is due. But a future member of the Rock Hall of Fame? Just as in her MTV diary, she showed no interest in music or in singing at the J Records bash. When most of the performers including Timberlake hit the stage for a final jam session, Spears avoided the chance to show off her vocal talents in front of the room and sat on her hands.

Timberlake, however, jumped on stage, took the mike, and worked hard to show that he is more than a flash in the pan. He was impressive. Afterwards, I was told that he is hard at work on a solo album, which may be more than halfway completed. "It's going to be huge," said one music insider who's heard some of the results.

I don't really know who Yoko is either (other than the fact she was married to one of the Beatles) and I can't sing at all. Heyyyyy, I can go out and get a record deal!!! :joke: :joke: :joke:

You already know more about Yoko than Titney... er, Britney does.

And I'm willing to bet you can sing better than her.

 Even I knew who Yoko is. And that's really saying something.

And she had NEVER heard of Linda McCartney.. Gawd. I hope Marlene doesn't see this. She'd have stroke.

So Britney doesn't know who Yoko Uno is - big deal! People weren't exactly under the impression that sweet little Britney was particulary clued-up so it won't come as a shock to many folk. I'm willing to bet that most of Britney's fans don't know who Yoko is either.
Like the article said - Britney might not be a rocket scientist but she looks damn hot and that's all the majority of people care about!

Okay, now what baffles me the most here is the mother talking about Pete Best. Just what did that have to do with the conversation at hand?

Anyway, I am always amazed at how little the youth of today (I'm guessing ages of 20s and younger) know about the Beatles, Stones, even Elton John and George Michael, and many other ground-breaking rock/pop musicians. But, did (or do) I know much about many of the musicians of the eras before my existance? No, not really.

However, the difference here is that Britney is IN THE BUSINESS, and she really should know a bit more about it than the average person her age.

Ack!

What bothers me about it is this: take The Stones, The Beatles, The who, on and on with musicians and groups in previous eras and they all had enormous knowledge of musical history because they loved music and idolized past and present musicians. That kind of passion adds a great deal to the quality and, more importantly, to the soul of their music. It's a good thing when the best at something can pass on their talents to who ever comes behind them. If the chain is broken as it seems to be with Britney, a generation may well miss out on some of the most important elements of music and not carry on a deep appreciation for music. And since music is a universal language, that could turn out to be quite a loss not fully realized for some time yet. I should add that Yoko herself has not added any thing of merit in my opinion to music herself. It's just that if Britney has not heard of Yoko, then it's likely that she is in the dark about musical history in a big way generaly. Maybe none of this matters, but there it is anyway.

Well, so she doesn't know much about her immediate musical hertiage, and that may be bad or not-so-bad or forgivable or unforgivable however you look at it.

BUT, I was reading an article about her when her new movie Crossroads was coming out and in it she said she really admired Pat Benetar, whose song "I Love Rock and Roll" she did in the movie! Honest! That's gotta tell you something!

I read about that too. "I Love Rock and Roll" was a Joan Jett song for crying out loud! Britney didn't even know who's song she was remaking!

:rotflmao: Geez I know all of this and I'm not even a singer. I think if your going to have a career you should know the history of it. And I bet someday in the future Britney is going to want to be remembered and I bet she definetly wants singers to remember her and I hope someday somebody goes up to a singer and says so you remember back in the early 2000's there was this big pop singer named Britney Spears and I really hope that singer goes Britney who, I would laugh.
