With all the this talk about how Nick@Nite isnt what it used to be-
looking at the current and soon to be line-up featuring Cosby had me wondering..
How many LOCAL stations out there still carry reruns of Cosby Show, Cheers, Roseanne, Family Ties, All in the Family, ect...
Shows that are/were/soon to be a part of today's Nick@Nite.
True many of these shows air on TBS but do you live near a local channel that carries these shows as well?
I live near Washington DC and recently our local CBS station ( WUSA-TV 9 ) decided to fill the 10am hour with reruns. They picked The Lucy Show and Cheers then The Price is Right comes on at 11. Reason for the reruns- to give viewers a break from 9/11 news coverage and also the low quality of the current talk show scene ( like Maury Povich's show- ALLWAYS it seems, about unwed teen mothers and/or proving who is the daddy of their baby ). Iyanna (? spelling ) was the last show in their 10am slot.
The Cosby Show is seen on DC's WB50 while All in the Family is seen on the local UPN channel WDCA. Roseanne can be seen ( mainly weekends ) on the local FOX channel here on channel 5.
And just about all these shows are seen on stations I can pick up from nearby Baltimore.
If a lot of local channels across the coutnry air these shows- whats the point of bringing them Nick@Nite? TBS is the same thing.
They got Friends and will be getting Seinfield but many local stations do air them allready. Wonder if the local station can block out say TBS airing Seinfield if they have the local rights to the show? Many cable systems do this- to prevent a network show from airing on multiple stations.
