Has everybody here seen the sit-com "Boston Common"? I tell ya... that show was great at first! I mean really, really great! Like a really funny soap opera or something... I found myself making plans around seeing the next episode! Anthony Clark is just incredible!

So what the heck happened? It started out with this sort of creepy situation (a guy moves to a college to stalk the girl of his dreams), and then all of a sudden they just removed the entire concept! It became just another sitcom about a bunch of wacky people with problems, and one wacky character that could make everything better!

I wonder where they got the idea to add a british boss in the second season? Could it have been, say, The Drew Carey Show?!

No, I think that Boston Common went off the air before Drew Carey added the Brittish dude. But it's not as if it was anything new! Sit coms have always been able to fall back on the tried and true formula of culture clash! Trace it all the way back to Lucy and Ricky, and you will see it popping up everywhere!

"She's an all-American girl, He's a Latin Band Leader"

"They're an average American familly, He's a dignified Brittish housekeeper"

"She's a tight-laced advertising executive, he's a free-wheeling housekeeper"

"He's a neurotic and paranoid American, and He's the trusting and naive Meposian"

...It just gets repeated over and over again! So neither Drew Carey NOR Boston Common can be accused of ripping of eachother... they're all ripping off Lucille Ball!

This show was excellent, one of the funniest sitcoms ever created. I don't know why NBC cancelled it, but they shouldn't have. And I wish USA would bring it back in reruns!

Wyleen: "I wanna go places and meet people! I've got a fire in my tummy!"

Boyd: "Well, lean over and crack a window!"
