Another one of my series, this one is similar to Super-Friends or Justice League, but more light-hearted and has superheroes from multiple universes. Enjoy!

“Umbrella for the Stars”
Episode 1 of The Ultimate Heroes

“Don’t you get sweaty under that uniform?” Jackie Chan smiled, lounging back in a chair, examining an artifact recently recovered two days ago after a battle with The Vanisher and Goldar. The Vanisher was a foe of Xavier’s X-Men and Goldar, a minion of Rita Repulsa, fought the Power Rangers on numerous occasions.
Cyclops, also known as Scott Summers, chuckled as he adjusted the visor that held in his optic blasts that emanated from his eyes. “Not at all.”
“Is it an acne problem, you are hiding under that mask then?” Chan jabbed, lauhing again.
This time Cyclops ignored him as he exited Rec Room 3 of the Heroes Hall, located in Ultracity, the capital of the Free States of Earth.
Just then, Ms. Pac-Man entered talking with Sonic the Hedgehog and Batman.
“In fact, you remind me of a hero I knew called Flash. He was a man who could run like the wind.” Batman laughed.
“You eat power pellets to power up, right?” Sonic asked.
“Don’t worry.” Ms. Pac-Man smiled, “They’re made for 100% justice!”
The heroes laughed.
“So,” Chan inquired, “Anything up?”
“All is calm in Ultracity, Jackie.” Sonic said, “I just finished 50 laps around the Hall in three minutes.”
“That’s a new record, by the way.” Ms. Pac-Man pointed out. “Hey, is the Nintendo 64 hooked up?” They all laughed.

“Stealing from a bank? Can’t we do something new, like steal from a Detective agency, or that new super high school or something?”
“Stop sniveling, Penguin!” snapped XL, “We’re doing this to fool those fools in the Heroes Hall! They’ll think we’re on a bank spree and then we’ll strike the main Oodles of Foodles warehouse for money and food!”
With them were also three Goombas, two Stormtroopers and four putties.
“Let’s go!” cried XL and the villains charged the First Ultracity Supreme Bank. Once inside, customers and tellers screamed.
“Hand’s up or a rainy day you’ll see.” The Penguin smiled.

“I win!” Misty Williams, the Poke’mon trainer, smiled.
“Arrgh!” cried Agent J, “Mille Bornes isn’t exactly my game! Can we try Canasta or Old Maid or something?”
“Coffee. Black.” Captain Kathryn Janeway smiled as the replicator made her a cup of steaming hot coffee. She took a sip and sighed. “Well, until Reed, Mira and Mario go shopping again, I’ll have to settle for replicated coffee. Better than Neelix’s substitute, at least.”
“You remind me of certain aliens.” Agent J smiled, “Have you ever heard of the worms? They—“
An alarm went off suddenly. “It’s the Alarm of Alarm.” Misty chuckled.
“Can’t they come up with a better name?” Agent J asked with a chuckle.
Captain Janeway ran to the nearest computer console. “The First Ultracity Supreme Bank is being robbed…by Penguin and XL.”
“I’ll get Jackie and the rest from Rec Room 3!” Misty exclaimed.
“No time.” Cyclops said, entering the room, “Us four will make the trip.”
Janeway picked up her phaser compression rifle. “At least it’s not the Borg Queen.”

“How much money?” Penguin asked.
“Fifty-thousand kilapions plus forty-seven ninoflecs!” XL said, “I wonder how many galactic credits that equals.”
“You’ll never find out!”
“No!” cried the Penguin.
Cyclops, Captain Janeway, Misty and Agent J smiled back at the villains.
“Cronies! Get them!” XL ordered and the Goombas, Stormtroopers and Putties stepped forward.
Cyclops nodded and the battle began. He fired his optic blasts at one of the putties, which flipped out of the way, into the phaser fire of Janeway. The putty fell unconscious.
Misty ducked behind a car on the street as a Goomba fired laser beams out of its eyes. She threw one of her Poke’balls, yet Psyduck emerged. “Psy!”
“Not now, Psyduck!” She recalled him, “Go, Staryu! Fire Water Gun!” The Water-type Poke’mon emerged and it fired a beam of water, knocking over two of the evil Goombas. She then threw an empty Poke’ball at the third Goomba, which was knocked end over end.
“Freeze!” Agent J boomed, smiling at two of the stormtroopers, who answered by firing their blasters, singing both sleeves of his suit. “I meant it literally.” He fired his freeze gun and the two were on ice. “Oh man, I just got it altered!”
Captain Janeway had stunned the other putties.
“Where are XL and the Penguin?” Misty asked.
“They must have escaped in the chaos.” Janeway assumed. “Let’s return to Heroes Hall.”
“Why are you so sore?” Cyclops said to a frowning Agent J, “Sweaty suit?”
Agent J stared at him blankly.

“This really worries me.” Tommy, the Green Ranger, said.
“Green Boy!” The Tick said, “Remember that life is like a salad! You don’t live in it! You eat it!”
“Tick!” Mega Man exclaimed, “You have traffic duty!”
The Tick smiled. “Honk if you like justice!” He ran out of the room.
“I’ve got a message on my minicomputer from Cyclops.” Sailor Mercury smiled.
“Let’s see it.” Mega Man said. Darkwing Duck also looked at the small tricorder-like device.
“Mercury, Mega, Darkwing, the Penguin has teamed up with XL. We need you to take JusticeWheel Five and go to Oodles of Foodles Warehouse.”
“Why there?” Mercury asked, “Didn’t they strike one of Ultracity’s biggest banks?”
“A tip…from a captured Stormtrooper.” Cyclops responded.
“Let’s get dangerous!” Darkwing Duck exclaimed, smiling.

XL, the evil robot along with the Penguin had tied up the main employees of the Oodles of Foodles warehouse and were now ready to steal their money.
“This is great!” The Penguin cackled. “We’ll have our food and money and eat…well…let’s get kickin’!”
“Keep those feet right on the ground!” Sonic the Hedgehog said.
“Just surrender to my—our greatness.” Darkwing Duck blushed at his egotistical remark.
The Penguin squawked. “Never! XL, blast them to the sky!”
“Gladly.” XL smiled, firing his super-powered laser straight toward the team of superheroes, knocking them all off their feet.
Mega Man rolled out of the fall and fired his arm-gun, but the shot merely exploded on a box of Chick-Fil-A-class chicken nuggets, making the frozen morsels fly across the room.
Sonic the Hedgehog powered up and spin-dashed toward XL, but a blue beam shot out from the robot, stopping Sonic dead in his tracks. Darkwing and Sailor Mercury stepped forward.
“Don’t move, you girl and you cocky duck!” XL chuckled deviously. “I’ve got your hedgehog in a tractor beam and he’s in my laser sights as well.” He raised his arm and pointed it at Sonic.
Mega Man looked curiously at his arm, also with a weapon attached. “Must be catching on.” He laughed.
“You don’t scare me—us!” Darkwing proclaimed.
Just then, Bubbles and Major Glory flew into the building. Both fired their laser eyes and knocked XL to his feet. Mega Man raised his arm and pointed it down at the dazed robot. “Lay still.”
The Penguin screamed in distress, but then he began to laugh. “Don’t you see you fools? I’m a hologram…and this all part of a bigger plan. He pointed his umbrella gun at Darkwing Duck and the two dematerialized in the haze of a red transporter beam.
“No!” Sonic exclaimed.

“What should we do?” The Tick exclaimed, returned from traffic duty. “Lots of people honked, by the way.”
“The Heroic Homing Device.” Reed Richards said.
“What is that?” Misty asked.
“It’s a homing device I’ve installed in all the uniforms of our heroes. The main sensor is in the main computer.”
“Brilliant work.” Jackie Chan stated.
“Now,” Sailor Mercury inquired, “Where is Darkwing?”
“He’s at…” Richards leaned forward; examining the three-dimensional map projected holographically, “…Ultracity Stadium.”
“The stadium?” Mega Man gaped, “What would they be doing there?”
“It could be a trap.” Jackie Chan pointed out.
“Then,” Reed Richards said, “We should engage a two-pronged attack. Get me Bubbles and Captain Janeway.”

“Wow.” Agent J said, “I’ve never heard a baseball stadium this quiet. Of course, I came from New York.”
“Maybe,” Tommy, the presently unmorphed Green Ranger, said, “Maybe, Richards was too concerned. I don’t see any evidence of a trap.”
“No evidence of digging.” Chan commented. He felt stares. “What do you want? I’m an archeologist!”
“Well, then dig your own hospital bed!” XL exclaimed, followed by evil cackling.
“I knew it.” Chan said, smiling, and striking a karate pose.
“It’s Morphin’ Time!” Tommy exclaimed, “Dragonzord!” He was then the Green Ranger. He lifted his Power Pistol, a powerful laser gun. “Care to surrender?”
“Never!” XL exclaimed.
The Green Ranger flipped on the ground, and fired his Power Pistol up. Four laser bursts severed the evil robots arm off. Retaliating, XL dove toward Jackie Chan, changing his arm into a drill. Chan barely escaped as Bubbles flew up from the sky.
“Oh!” The Penguin exclaimed, emerging from the Visitor’s dugout. “One little girl. I’m so scared.”
“I wouldn’t be so sure of that.” Bubbles smiled. She swooped down toward the Penguin and XL. So, they didn’t notice the starship Voyager fly over the stadium until the Penguin was on the ground.

Captain Kathryn Janeway smiled as the Voyager held position over Ultracity Stadium. “Tuvok, weapons status?”
Commander Tuvok, the Vulcan Tactical Officer, nodded, “All weapons to ready. Phasers have been adjusted to stun frequency.”
“Very good, Commander.” Janeway sat straight in the Captain’s chair. “Stand by.”

“Oh no! It’s Voyager!” XL cried out. “But, I thought it was exploring outer space!”
“Too bad, punk!” Agent J smiled, holding his Cricket and pointing it at XL, “Looks like you won’t have good luck today.”
Bubbles stood guard the Penguin. “Quack!” The Penguin stammered, “This time my umbrella won’t help me!”
Jackie Chan untied Darkwing Duck. “Did he just quack?” Darkwing inquired.
Chan had to laugh.
The Green Ranger put his Power Pistol in the holster. “Green Ranger to Heroes Hall.”
“Heroes Hall.” Responded Sonic the Hedgehog. “We’re cool here.”
“We have rescued Darkwing. Plus, XL and the Penguin are in custody.”
“That’s—I’m detecting bogeys approaching Voyager!”

“Captain.” Tuvok reported, his typical Vulcan control of emotions still in effect, “Six Klingon torpedo ships are approaching on an attack vector.”
“Klingons?” Janeway said aloud in disbelief. “What about the New Organian Peace Treaty?”
“Captain,” Tuvok continued, “There are no life signs aboard the vessels. It appears that they are automated with an advanced AI protocol.”
“Artificial intelligence.” Janeway said. “Red alert. Evasive maneuvers.”

Three of the Klingon ships opened fire, each with one photon torpedo. Voyager escaped the impact of two of the antimatter explosives, but the third one hit its aft shields as Voyager began to climb out of the atmosphere.
The other three suddenly overshot the Intrepid-class starship and scored two more torpedo hits.

Janeway’s knuckles began to turn white as she held on during another photon torpedo impact.
“Shields at 47% and failing, Captain.” The Voyager then returned fire with three phaser blasts, disabling one of the enemy vessels. “We’ve exited the atmosphere.”
Then Janeway’s eyes widened as she saw the new data on the helm sensor readout. “There’s another ship approaching.” She wished that the remainder of her crew wasn’t on shore leave. “It masses three times our own, but I can’t get a clear reading because of the Klingons.”
Tuvok worked at his console as Janeway controlled the movements of the ship, avoiding the artificially controlled Klingon vessels. Then, Tuvok gave the news. “Captain, the ship,”
Janeway was prepared for bad news.
“It’s the Enterprise.” Tuvok delivered the news so calmly he could’ve been reading off a plasmatic analysis. “We’re being hailed and the Klingon ships are moving to intercept them.”
Captain Jean-Luc Picard appeared on the viewscreen. Commander Data and Lieutenant Commander Geordi La Forge were on the bridge with him. “Captain Janeway, faring well?”
Janeway smiled dryly. “Skeleton crew aside. I guess I’m glad to see you, Captain.”
“We have a small crew as well. We’ll handle the Klingons. Enterprise out.”

“Commander Data.” Captain Picard ordered, “Ready quantum torpedoes. Commander La Forge, divert power to shields.”
“Aye, sir.” They both responded at once.

The Enterprise stood still in space, waiting behind deflector shields and with the most powerful weapons in the United Federation of Planets armed and ready. The five automated enemy ships that were still operative rushed forward.

“Fire!” Picard ordered.
“Firing, sir.” Data said.

Shimmering, white quantum torpedoes struck all of the enemy ships and all of them exploded instantly. Debris flew wildly in all directions and would continue to fly by inertia until they were stopped.

“Yes!” Janeway jumped up on the bridge of Voyager. “Too bad Tom Paris isn’t here with one his witty remarks.”
“Indeed.” Tuvok said in his typical Vulcan voice.

The day was saved once more. In the Heroes Hall, Captain Jean-Luc Picard and his officers, Data and La Forge also participated in a celebration that all the Ultimate Heroes participated in.
“That was one good victory.” Princess Nova said, “You humans aren’t barbarians. Same with hedgehogs, pacs and others.” Several laughed.
“So, Captain Picard,” Jackie Chan said, “Will you be joining our group?”
“Starfleet has sent us to protect the planet for a month.” Picard responded, “So, in a way, you could say were are joining your group.”
“So,” Agent J asked Cyclops, “You bought stock in Acne-A-Way?”
“It could be interpreted either way.” Cyclops responded, “But it does not mean I have acne, for sure.”
“Well,” Agent J said, “Just make that uniform look good.”
Major Glory answered the door and found a short young woman in an orange sweater with glasses. “Welcome to Heroes Hall, madam.”
“Hi.” She said, “My name is Velma Dinkley. Could you use a detective?”
Major Glory smiled. “We just might.”

So…once more, the day has been saved, but they will face future challenges…they who are…THE ULTIMATE HEROES!!!

On the next episode…
The heroes face a brand new enemy that will prevent our heroes from having a ball on a great day…
