“Typical Days"- Episode 1 of Gopher's Gateway
Part 1 of 2

By Sean Sporman

Sean Sporman walked up to ask Kay Lindsay, the principal of Hueytown High School, about the situation.
She turned around and answered his question. "They have captured Rachel Waters, Heather Allgood, and Meagan Hall and are holding them hostage."
"Them as in the Inbiot Group?" Sean inquired. The inbiots were a group of about eight boys and two girls who broke rules constantly. They also used profanity and did other things that violated regulations. This time they had gone too far.
"Yes." Sean then walked inside the room that they were being held in.
"Sean, you will not make it!" Mrs. Lindsay yelped in concern.
"Oh, I will." Sean said, confidently. As Sean walked in he saw four of the inbiots restraining their hostages. At that, Sean pulled out his phaser and readied his force powers. About seven more of the Inbiot group stood around the lunch tables, either sitting or standing.
"Alright, Inbiots!" Sean said as he waved the three-inch long energy weapon at them. "I'm here, give it up! Just give back the cheerleaders and we just might let you go!"
"Never, fool! Attack him!" Three of the Inbiots began to run toward Sean, fists waving. Sean stunned them with his phaser and they fell to the floor, unconscious.
Just then, Holly Toidi jumped from the table and dived toward Sean. Sean waved his hand at him and he flew backwards and crashed into a Styrofoam box. "You can't rival Jedi powers!"
The ones not guarding the hostages in the Inbiot group walked slowly and surrounded Sean in all directions. Sean double back flipped out of his trap and set his phaser on wide stun. He fired and they all went down. There were only three of them left.
"Ok, Inbiots. Surrender now!" They grew scared and ran out of the alternate Lunchroom exit, only to be intercepted by three Hueytown police officers.
Sean untied the ropes binding Rachel, Heather, and Megan. "You're the best." Rachel said, and then passionately kissed Sean.
"Sean. Sean!" His mother, Sandra, snapped Sean out his daydream.
"Yes, Ma'am?" He asked.
"Your breakfast is now ready!"
"Thank you, Ma'am."
"Of course, what we're doing anyway?"
"Saving the um..." He decided to change his story just a little bit. "...World!"
"I see. Come eat!"
"I'm on my way."

Jordan Reeves was the only one in the otherwise vacant classroom in the Ivy Building of Hueytown High School at 7:55 A.M. He sat alone, putting the finishing touches on his mostly complete math homework assignment. He was also wondering where most of the people were. Maybe Spormanworld scared them all away…He thought, just as Sean and Ben Smith entered the room, chatting about the previous night's new Voyager episode.
Sean sat in his usual seat beside Jordan, and Ben sat on the opposite side. Sean was a best friend with Jordan, but becoming very good friends with Ben also. "So, Jordan did you see Voyager last night?"
"Yup. I just loved that episode. It was so funny!" Jordan commented.
"Ready the Photonic cannon!" Sean said in his best representation of the voice of the E.C.H. "So, Jordan, did you do your homework?"
"Well...of course!" He said, picking up his notebook and showing Sean. "See!"
Just then, Heather Allgood, a sophomore both Sean and Jordan knew, walked in the room. She was not in the class, but merely stopping by to say hey.
"Greetings, Heather." Sean said. "You wouldn't happen to know where everybody is, would you?"
"Yes." She said, smiling. "Most of the juniors and seniors and some of the sophomores, me not included, went on the field trip to Atlanta. There are only about 150 of us left."
"Thank you. See ya later." Heather waved at Sean and Jordan, then left walking toward Ivy Office and then out of the building.
"Yes…but where are the rest of our grade?" Ben asked.
"I know that." Jordan said. "They have gone to the first in-school football game. Won't be back until one. I can see I was smart enough not to go."
"Hey! I'm smart too! Smarter than you!" Sean said playfully. "Yes, but isn't Heather in the band? Why isn't she at the game? And, why is it lasting so long?"
"See Sean, I am smart! I know these things. Yes, Heather is in the band, but you only have to go if you want too. And, they get to go to McDonalds afterwards."
"Well…McDonalds is good…but not worth seeing a long, boring game for. But, a game do have some good points…"
"Like Rachel and Meagan..." Jordan said suggestively and playfully.
"Jordan!" Sean said in mock anger. Just then, an office aide walked in. "Hey, Sporman! You are needed in the office."
"Ok. I'm coming." He shot a look of bafflement at Jordan, then walked out.
As he walked toward the office, about three minutes away, he began to daydream again…

Sean laughed as he saw one of the Inbiots fall on the floor. The inbiot, Holly Toidi, fell over his untied shoelace. Just then, Heather Allgood walked over and sat by Sean and Jordan.
"Greetings, Heather." Sean smiled and looked at Jordan who had no expression on his face at the moment. He then turned back toward Heather.
"Hi, Sean. How are you doing?" Jordan was now frowning, which made Sean almost giggle.
"I'm fine. And you?"
"Fine. By the way, I like your Spormanworld stuff. But, I have a question for you." Sean began to contemplate the possible questions. "Go ahead."
"Will you go out with me?" Jordan screamed with complete disbelief and Sean froze up. Holly Toidi gasped and Heather continued to smile.
"Um...uh…Sure." Sean then realized something. "Aren't you going out with someone?"
"Not anymore."
Jordan finally recovered enough to speak. He just couldn't believe that Heather would actually go out with him. "Alright, who paid you?"
Heather hit Jordan with a brush from her purse. "Ouchie!" Jordan yelped.
"Tell him, Heather!" Sean said with an ear-to-ear smile.
"Yeah, Jordan! It's Yard Boat!" Heather said, smacking him lightly once more with the hairbrush.
"O.k.…" Sean faded out of the daydream and noticed that they were coming up on the building with the office, or main. He walked into the office, wondering why he was down here. Mrs. Lindsay met him.
"Sean, I have been in contact with Mr. Redcross at Pittman. He says that you were the weatherman there for most of your time there."
"Yes. It was very fun and caused a lot of um...interesting events…" Sean responded.
"I see. But, I think you need to become our weatherman."
Sean began to smile. For a second, he thought it was a joke…Obviously not, because it's the principal saying it!
"So, when do I start?" Sean asked with anticipation.
"This morning, if you have the weather."
"I do."
"Well, come here." She walked him to the announcing microphone and began her announcements. She gave several announcements involving the field trip, in-school game, and other stuff. Then, she came to the important stuff. "As some of you know, Pittman Middle School had a weatherman, Sean Sporman. Well, since he's going to this school now, Why not let him give you the weather here? Here's Sean…"
Sean was handed the microphone by Mrs. Lindsay and began to speak. "Good Morning, the latest observations are 58 degrees and sunny. Today's forecast is sunny and cool with a high around 82. The Pick City of the day, selected by me, is Detroit with Snow Showers in the 30s. Thank you…this is Sean Sporman…signing off!" He placed the microphone on the desk.
"I like that pick city thing. I assume you'll let other students pick some too?"
"Of course." Sean said, preparing to walk out of the office. "Anything else I can do for you?"
"Just come back this afternoon for the afternoon update." She said, smiling.
"You can count on it!" Sean said, as he walked out of the office. When he got out of the office, he said to himself. "Yes!"

Mrs. Blossomgame's Room- 8:08AM
When Sean walked in, he received a standing ovation from most of the students. It reminded him of the ovation he got in Mrs. Jacob's class after he gave his first weather report in the sixth grade. He was back!
"Good Job, Sean." Said a polite female voice from behind the teacher's desk. It was not the regular teacher, but a substitute, one Sean knew in fact, Mrs. Sullivan.
"Thanks." Sean said as he sat down in his desk. He then playfully glared at Jordan with a sly smile and said. "Guess whose back!" Jordan rolled his eyes. Nearby, Morgan McBrayer signed in disbelief.

9:35 A.M.
The electronic bell rang over the intercom, three seconds late. What few students were in the class began to depart. In the halls, the people were dispersed few and far between.
Brian Farviews walked up to Sean and said. "Man, Spormanworld is dumb!" He tried to kick Sean, but missed and walked away in anger.
"Spormanworld is not dumb! Imagination is great! More power to you, Sporman!" Ben proclaimed as he walked on to his next class, down the hall in Ivy building. Sean smiled about that remark as Rachel Waters walked up and began to walk with Sean as he slowly proceeded to his next class.
"I now have the chance to tell you, it was Jordon's fault. She--"
"My theory was right! So, Jordon Coston forced you and Haley to be mean to me?"
"Yes, but James was in on it too. And, unlike me, she likes to pick on freshmen, especially you. She says you are--."
Sean held up his hand. "I know…So, did you hear my weather report this morning.
"Yes…it was good. Hey, I've got an idea. When we do what we usually do to you at lunch today, play along like you enjoy it, and then at the right time…we'll shock her. Well, I have to go. Bye!"
"Bye, Rachel!" Rachel got off on the sidewalk to Pine, the site of her next class. Sean was heading toward the main building, which held the PE Gym. He then saw Jordan Reeves.
"Hey, Jordan, you'll never believe what Rachel said!" Sean explained to him what Rachel had said.
"Yes, but saying it in the first place is bad--" Jordan's sentence was interrupted by Sean. "Look! There are only sixteen people in our class. And, ten are our friends!"
Jordan smiled as one of his friends, Liz Larson, a blonde girl, walked up and hugged him. "Hey, buddy." She said.
"Greetings, Liz." Instead of a response, Liz gave Sean a stare that said Go away! I don't like you! Sean shivered slightly. He had a theory that Jordan and Liz had crushes on each other, a theory that both of them denied and despised.
The PE coach was not Coach Boyd or Coach Bush as expected, but Coach Wallace from Pittman. "Coach?" Sean asked with a curious tone.
"Hi, Sean. Did well on the weather. I'm here because it's a Pittman off day and both coaches didn't come in. So, they called me."
"Lucky you." Sean said sarcastically. "So, what are we doing today?"
"There are only sixteen of you. Oh--you decide."
Sean noticed that several people were now staring at him. However, he did not let them affect his decision "This school wouldn't happen to have some soft balls that are large, like playground balls?"
"Yes. But, they haven't been used. Someone accidentally ordered them and we never bothered to return them. At least, that's what Coach Boyd told me."
"Ok. Do you know a game called Silver Bullet?"
"Yes. It's like dodgeball, but safer."
"That's it! We'll play that." The boys looked shocked and some of the girls looked confused.
The coach had gone back in the gym office to get the balls. In the meantime, Sean decided to have another daydream. Jordan looked at him and said "Oh…boy…"

Captain Sean Sporman sat confidently on the bridge of the USS Sporman from the Spormanworld Starfleet. His mission had been executed perfectly. He had gotten the humans and was on course for Spormanworld at maximum warp.
"Computer, time to Spormanworld?"
"At current speed, 31 hours and 47 minutes."
"Thanks. I think it's time we checked on our passengers." He stood out of his captain's chair and walked inside one of the turbolift units. "Deck 12." The doors slid shut.
Once the turbolift stopped, Captain Sporman walked out. He walked down the corridor until he reached Crew Quarters #43. The door slid open.
"Sean!? Where in the world are we? And, what is that ridiculous costume?" It was Heather Allgood who said that. The costume she referred to was a starfleet uniform.
"Not on that world…but your are in that costume too…" Heather looked down and noticed that Sean was right.
Suddenly, Sean saw Jordan Reeves burst out of one the doors on the opposite side of the room he was in. "What is going on?" Suddenly, Sean was hit square in the side by a ball.
When Sean was out of his daydream, the first thing he noticed was Liz laughing at him. "HA! See, Sean is not smart!"
Jordan decided to defend his best friend. "He was daydreaming. I don't think you should dislike his Spormanworld stuff like you do! It's very creative!" Liz gave no response.
An unknown student walked by and stopped by Jordan. "Excuse me, what is Spormanworld?"
"It's his imaginary world." Jordan pointed at Sean. "It’s a collection of drawings, designs, stories, and ideas that he has worked on since fifth grade."
"Sounds cool." The student began to walk away. Sean thanked her as she walked out the doors to her car.
"So, Sean." Coach Wallace said. "Ready to play?"
"Yes, sir." He responded.

30 minutes later
Sean and Jordan were the only ones left on one side of the court. The opposing team was knocked out except for Jessica Ward. She could run full court. Sean and Jordan could only run on half of their court. Jessica had all of the balls. Sean stood under a basketball goal and Jordan stood against the back of a wall. After several anxious seconds of waiting, Jessica came flying across the court. Sean was hit and Jordan caught the other ball.
"So long, Spormanator." Jordan said. Sean walked slowly across the gym to the crowd of people that were 'out'.
"Good Luck, Commander." Sean said, smiling to Jordan. Now, Jordan was for the most part a moral person and knew not to hit girls, or what Sean called the 'cartoon rule'. However, this was different. He reared back and threw the ball, hitting Jessica and winning the game for the team.
"Yes! Victory!" Sean yelped in excitement. Coach Wallace came out onto the court and got the ball.
"Ok! Let us join in!" All eyes turned toward the crowd that stood at the gym entrance. There were six girls and two boys. All of them were people Sean knew. Suddenly, Mrs. Lindsay popped out from behind the crowd.
"There are so few people that we're combining the classes by building." The group of students walked in to join the formerly small PE class.
"Ok." The coach proclaimed. "We'll have Sporman and Reeves as team captains. Twelve people on each team. Go!"
Sean and Jordan began to select the members of their team. By the end of the selection, the teams seemed almost even.
"Alright, since Jordan won the last game, Sean's team gets to go first." The coach tossed the ball at Sean, who caught it successfully. "Go!"
Sean took the first move by throwing the ball at Liz Larson, which the ball hit. Next, Megan Hall, on the other team threw it toward Rachel Waters. It missed Rachel, but hit Jacob. At the same time, Jordan had thrown it at Matt Moore. It did not hit Matt, but Jessica had bumped it into Ashley Hampton, who got out.
The game went on for almost 10 minutes. Many people were knocked out of the game, including Rachel, Megan, Jordan R., and Stacie T. On Sean's team only Sean, Brooke Stephens, and Meghan Harris remained. Jordan was not left on his team, but his brother Jonathan was, as well as Brooke Thompson. Brooke had one ball and Jonathan had the other.
"Alright, we're ready! But, you can't win!" Sean said as he swerved around. At that, Jonathan hurled the ball at Meghan who happened to sneeze at the time of the throw. She was hit lightly putting her out of the game. Right before it hit Meghan, Brooke had thrown the ball at Jonathan, but Brooke Thompson purposely allowed herself to get hit so Jonathan could have access to the full court.
"Uh oh." Brooke Stephens muttered as she ran her fingers through her hair.
Sean attempted to hit Jonathon with the ball that had hit Meghan, but he missed wildly and nearly hit Rachel on the sidelines.
"Sorry." He was worried about that, but Rachel smiled back at him, so apparently she wasn't angry about it. At that distraction, Jonathon hit Sean with one of the balls. It was now Brooke vs. Jonathon. They ran around the full court for almost 45 seconds.
"Aye, you've lost! The Irish locker said so!" Jonathan said in his amusing Irish dialect. He had hoped to make Brooke laugh, thus giving him an opportunity to hit her. Brooke began to laugh as predicted and she stood still, not throwing the ball she held in her hands. When Jonathan threw his ball, She ran to one side and whacked him in the stomach with her ball.
The members of Sean's teams began to talk excitedly while Jordan's team talked in low, droopy voices. Apparently, it was more than a game…
"And, now round 2! After a 5 minute break of course!" The coach said as the people in the teams sat down, went to the restrooms and water fountains or walked around.

Pittman Middle School-10: 40 A.M.
Joseph Redcross sat in his office, his desk literally drowning in papers. He was glad that Sean was still doing the weather at the high school, while Chase, Sean's assistant the previous school year, maintained the 'tradition' at Pittman. However, that was the only thing he was happy about. While his school had maintained good ratings, Hueytown High was disintegrating. He was assigned by the board to find a team that would design and another team to control the new school. After nearly two hours and forty-seven calls, he had no luck. Suddenly, a radical idea struck him. He picked up the phone and dialed the number to the Superintendent's office. It rang three times and it was the Superintendent, Andy Blackerby, who answered it.
"Hello?"
"This is Joseph Redcross of Pittman Middle."
"Any luck?"
"Afraid not. But, I have an idea. We can let our best students design it."
"What!? They're students, not architects!"
"I know, we can have an advisor that is one to help him or her in using the latest CAD software. And, I have the perfect person in mind for the job."
"Fascinating. Who?"
"Sean Sporman."
The Superintendent's tone suddenly changed. Sean Sporman was an honors students and was recognized as being the only school weatherman in the Jefferson County School system. "Of course. He is very, very smart and popular too…"
"I see you know Mr. Sporman." Redcross said sarcastically.
"I have the idea…First we can let him command for two…"

Hueytown High School- 11:14
At the end of round four, Sean's team had won three rounds and the other team one. The bell was close to ringing, so the games had stopped. Sean was now talking with his friends.
"Wow! That was fun! Forget PE! FPE is in!" Sean exclaimed.
"FPE?" Megan Hall asked with curiosity.
"Fun Play education!" Sean said. Then, Brooke Stephens walked by Sean and his friends. "Good move, Brooke!"
Just then, the bell to go to the next period class rang. The crowd slowly left the gym. Sean decided to have another daydream…

Sean walked with Poke'mon trainers Ash, Misty, and Brock toward Veridian City. For the fifth time in the last twenty minutes, Sean caught Misty smiling at him. Suddenly, he heard a rustling in the bushes and two people and a Meowth Jumped out.
"Oh no!" Ash exclaimed.
"It's Team Rocket!" Misty said as she stepped back two steps.
"Ah, ha ha ha ha ha!" The two humans said. "Prepare for trouble!"
"And make it double!"
"To protect the world from devastation!"
"To unite all peoples within our nation!"
"To denounce the evils of truth and love!"
"To extend our reach to the stars above!"
"Jesse!"
"James!"
"Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!"
"Surrender now or prepare to fight!"
"Meowth! That's Right!"
"We're going to get that Pikachu!" She got her pokeballs and threw them. "Arbok, Likatung, Go!"
"Hey, who are you?" He threw his pokeball. "Get them, Weezing!"
Sean stepped in front of the three trainers. "Not if I have anything to do with it!" Sean took two of his pokeballs and threw them toward Team Rocket. Two Poke'mon came out. "Jigglypuff!" "Psyduck!"
"Alright! Jigglypuff, rage attack! Psyduck, Water gun attack!
Jigglypuff began to attack Weezing and knocked him to the ground. "Jiggly!" But, Psyduck's water gun attack missed by a mile.
"Arbok! Coil that duck!" Arbok did as ordered. Psyduck began to panic.
"Weezing, explosion--I mean--!" James could not finish his sentence as Weezing executed his explosion attack. Just in the nick of time, Psyduck broke loose. Team Rocket began to fly into the sky. Jigglypuff then began to sing…
"Looks like Team Rocket's blasting off again!" When Sean noticed he was at his table in the lunchroom, he stopped his daydream. He was actually able to sit where he wanted to because there were so few people there. And, thankfully, most of the people at his table were his friends.

Pittman Middle- 11:30 A.M.
Mister Redcross picked up the phone that rang in his office. He instantly knew who it was, the superintendent of the Jefferson County Board of Education.
"Hello. Should I call the high school now?" Mister Redcross asked.
"No. We must call a meeting of the STP council."
"STP council?"
"The staff-teacher-parent council. It was a very early version of the PTSO, but it was shelved. I've brought it back."
"Clever. When do we meet?"
"Have 10 of your teachers, five random parents and all principals from Hueytown High School. But, we need just some teachers and principals from your school. They'll meet after school in your lunchroom."
"Understood. But, I was looking at the requirements to be a principal and…"
"It is of no matter. I trust him. Don't you?"
"Yes. Do you think the council will vote against him?"
"Not really. There should not be any real opposition."
"Good. And, goodbye, until this afternoon."

Hueytown High School-Lunchroom-11: 35 A.M.
"You said what!?!" The look of utter shock and disbelief on Jordon Coston's face was absolutely priceless. Rachel and Sean were now smiling while most of the others looked confused, intrigued, or had not feeling about it at all.
"Your plan is gone, Ms. Coston." Sean said just like a starfleet officer. Jordon almost got up and hit Sean, but Rachel caught her attention at the last second.
"It may have been funny at first, Sorry Sean. But, Sean is a good friend. And, I had to put a stop to it! It disturbed me greatly. But, I can still be friends with you too, but only if you stop!" Rachel finished with a smile.
Sean was now the one with the look of shock. Wow! That seems like something out of my daydreams or stories! Sean glanced at Jordan Reeves, who also looked shocked. "Well, Jordan, don't judge to quickly!" Jordan looked annoyed, but turned around and resumed eating his sandwich. As for Jordon Coston, she seemed confused. Then she finally decided to speak after a sigh of resignation. "Ok! Ok! I don't want to lose a friend." She then turned toward Sean and apologized.
"Apology accepted. We can still be friends." Sean replied.
"Sure." They shook hands when the bell rang. Jordon, Rachel, Sean and Jordan walked together and chatted as they went toward their third period classes.
"So, Rachel, what do you think of Spormanworld?"
"I think it's pretty cool, even if it's a little silly. Well, I have to go. Bye." Jordon and Rachel walked toward Oak as Jordan walked toward Pine, home of his locker.
Before he could get in Ivy, he heard the sounds of a fight and hundreds of people running to witness what seemed to be that fight. Three teachers from Ivy began to run toward the fight, as well as Mr. Swiney, who was in Pine at the time. Sean continued to walk toward his third period class as the fight was being stopped.

Hueytown High-1:25 P.M.
Sean had gotten through Honors World History, his third period class, without a hitch and with a 100 on a test. He was now in his favorite class of this semester, Speech with Mrs. Stevens.
"Man, did you see that fight?" Justin asked to John Barnes.
"Yeah! It was a great Catfight!" John responded as he sat down in his desk.
"Who was in it?" Liz McGowen asked with curiosity.
"About four freshman girls: June Gabert, Tina Thomas, Susan Enbasil, and Barbara Loweique. They seem to always cause lots of trouble according to Mr. Swiney."
The teacher's aide, Jacob Allison, walked in. But, before he could take his seat, he tripped over a chair and nearly fell flat on his face.
The room filled with laughter. Meanwhile, there were many conversations going on. Brooke Stephens was telling Sarah and Jennifer about how she won the game of Silver Bullet in PE. John Barnes was telling Derik Olvey about the freshmen Catfight.
"I wonder where Mrs. Stevens went." Jordan Reeves asked to no one in particular.
"I don't know." Meghan Harris responded with a smile.
Just then, Mrs. Stevens walked into the room. At that moment, the lights flickered off for a second and then back on again. "I didn't do it!" She said. "Anyway, Mrs. Lindsay has announced that there is a limited 'free afternoon' today for the people that have not been complained against or violated any of our rules frequently or severely in the last few weeks." She took a breath. "In this class that includes Sean, Jordan, Heather, Meghan, Jonathan, Megan, Sarah, Jennifer, Brooke, Liz, Tim and Jacob. Precede in an orderly fashion the practice field at 2:15, which is when it begins. All others will go to the lower gym to be supervised. In the mean time, lets do our demo speeches. Justin?"
Justin walked to the front of the class. He stopped behind the table and only carried one piece of paper. "Today, I'll teach you how to make a paper airplane…"

Pittman Middle- 1:28 P.M.
Mister Redcross watched as the janitors cleaned up the lunchroom for the council meeting. The meeting had been moved up to two o'clock because it was more convenient for everyone involved. The free day excuse worked very well and anyway, there were only 150 students left at Hueytown High.
Just then he saw the superintendent walk toward his direction. "The 2 o'clock is ready?"
"Nearly. I have a question. How much of a budget will the project have?"
"Thanks to the new lottery, we can supply them with an unlimited budget."
"But, the lottery was voted against. And--"
"Blasted! I forgot. Well…lets just say it comes from a reliable source."
"Ok…" Mr. Redcross said, letting the curiosity show in his voice.

Hueytown High-Mrs. Steven's Room- 1:30 P.M.
Paper airplanes filled the room and flew in all directions. Airplanes hit each Brooke, Jordan, Jennifer and Sean. Several impacted on Mrs. Stevens desks and the rest hit students' desks or various spots on the floor.
"Ok. Let's pick them up!" Mrs. Stevens said as she graded Justin's speech.
Sean raised his hand. "May I go to the restroom." Mrs. Stevens handed him the pass and Sean began to exit the room. About half way to the restroom, a small black box-like object mysteriously materialized in his hands. "What in Spormanworld?" He blurted out loud. I hope nobody heard me. But, what is this!?
He turned the object in his hands as he resumed walking. Fortunately, no one was in the recently cleaned restroom. There was a lighted computer display on the outside that said Federation Replicator Model TX-4704P.
Oh, my gracious! A real replicator like the ones in Star Trek! He decided to test it, but just as he got out the word "Computer." An audio message started. "Greetings. Use this well in the project, but let no one else use it until the time is right." The message ended. Sean could not believe it. A real replicator! I have to hide in my locker! He used the restroom, then put the replicator in his locker. It just barely fit! But, first he replicated a tricorder and type-1 phaser, both of which fit in his pockets. He then returned to his class, ecstatic as one person can be.

Pittman Middle- 2:00 P.M.
The council was arranged. There were several teachers from Hueytown and Pittman, all ones who had taught Sean. Some of the invited teachers could or would not attend. Mrs. Lindsay and Mr. Redcross were there as well as the parents of Barbara Loweique and Allen Johnston, two of Sean's good friends. Also, the superintendent was there, in the middle seat.
"Alright, we are here to decide the fate of Hueytown High School. We have a plan to make Hueytown High the best school ever. Mr. Redcross?"
Mr. Redcross explained how the ratings were bad at the high school; the plan that involved the new school and Sean Sporman; the free-day excuse; and the mysterious unlimited budget.
"What you are here for is to decide whether you want Sporman to design and command the new school. Of course, he will have an assistance staff of about 30 students from Pittman and Hueytown. Mrs. Lafoy, what do you think?"
"It's a unique idea and I like it. He may have had some problems in pre-algebra, but he never talked dirty and was very intelligent otherwise."
"I agree. But, I have a question."
"Yes, Mrs. Williams, what is it?"
"What will be the extent of Sean's power?"
"He will first go a test run of commanding Hueytown for two weeks. If he does well, which we are confident he will. He will design, with the assistance of a professional architect, the school. Then, they, as in the group, will have a relative break period, except for 2 hours of school as the school is being built. Once it is completed, he will be principal and his three closest friends will be assistant principals and so on. The teachers will remain the same. We are also considering having him design a 'New Pittman', but that may or may not happen."
"You'll let that fool take command of my daughter's school!" Barbara's father yelped out.
"Calm down. What are our objections, Mr. Loweique?"
"He has excessive daydreams, has a very stupid imaginary world, tells on anyone who breaks the rules, and is now doing idiotic weathercasts! Those of my yolseling complaints!"
"We disagree. The daydreams and Spormanworld implies great creativity. His tendency to tell on rule violators means that he will not endanger this project in any way. Also, the weathercasts show that he is not very shy and will be a good PR person."
"I don't care! I'm leaving!" Mr. Loweique and his wife left the meeting barely after it had started.
"Does anyone else have any objections?" The crowd was silent.
"Good. The project can begin! Final questions?"
"What will the name be?"
"That's Sean's privilege." He smiled. "Now, let's go see about that free day!" The adults all walked out of the room and began to disperse among the school.

Hueytown High- 2:15 P.M.
"We need all students that were picked to report to the football field for fun!"
Most of the students began to walk out of the room. Sean stopped to ask Mrs. Stevens a question. "Where did the football game crowd go?"
"The game went into double overtime. So, they are just now eating lunch, I believe."
"Ah. Poor people." Sean smiled.
Sean caught up with Jordan. "Can you believe this day?"
"No. Tell me it's a bad dream." Jordan said a fake depressed voice. "Just kidding. I guess…I'm proud for you."
"Thanks. I can't wait to tell my mom about all this. I guess now I can finally tell her about the Anti-Sporman conspiracy."
"Or the Waters Conspiracy?" Jordan smiled.
"HA! Anyway, I wonder what this free day is about. But, hey, I'm not complaining."
"Neither am I."
Sean shivered. "It sure got cold fast. Huh?"
"Yeah, I wonder where it came from…I thought you said 70s today!"
"82 actually. But, this is nowhere near 82!"
Christy Burton walked by. "Hey, Sean, you didn't say it was going to be this cold.
It took them five minutes, but most of the crowd finally reached the football field. "Have fun!" Mr. Swiney announced!
Sean took a ball and started to play catch with Jordan and Rachel. "Think fast!" Sean said as he hurled the soft foam ball at Jordan. He managed to catch it.
Sean glanced up and noticed it was now completely overcast. "Weird." Sean shivered from the cold again. "It looks like snow clouds. Boy, I wish I had brought my coat!"
"I've got my coat!" Jordan said.
"Oh yeah, Team Rocket! It's yard boat!"
"No, it's boat in the yard!"
"No, it's Yard--" Sean saw it. He didn't believe it. Then there was another one and they started coming down in swarms "SNOW!"
"It can't be. It's October! Sean, get out of my dream!" Jordan laughed at his joke.
Sean laughed as well. "It's snowing…and sticking!"
Rachel and Meagan Hall began to run through the now blizzard-like snowfall. The other people began to chase each other, throw things, fight each other or climb up things. "My word…everybody has gone crazy. But, hey, let it snow!"

To be continued…
