Maulik Pancholy Not Returning to NBC's "Whitney"
Aug 22, 2012
by Rob Moynihan
The NBC comedy "Whitney" may be returning for a second season, but one familiar face will be missing. Maulik Pancholy will not be reprising his role as Neal, Lily's (Zoe Lister-Jones) ex-fiance who realized he was gay towards the end of last season.
"Creatively the show is going more into a direction of 'Mad About You' with these two central characters and their relationship and it's less of an ensemble show," creator and star Whitney Cummings tells TV Guide Magazine. "It's hard to keep him integrated into the group now that he's broken up with Lily."
However, Pancholy will now shift his focus towards "30 Rock" where he will return for its final season as Jack Donaghy's (Alec Baldwin) assistant Jonathan.
"Whitney's" second season premieres Friday, October 19 at 8/7c.
