Well, it's this week. Is anyone celebrating it?

Do other Catholic schools in the U.S.A even know about it....? I thought it was a Springfield Diocesan thing...?

I dunno. I always thought that the little saying things they have for each year were national. And then there's the little saying thing for each diocese. Does that make any sense? I dunno.

It is a week, usually this time of year, where Catholic schools are celebrated. The Catholic schools do special things all week long, and have fun activities. It started on Sunday at Mass and lasts until Friday. It's almost like a promotional week for Catholic schools to show the good academic and spiritual programs they have. It's a fun week for the students! :D
Oh, and Karli, I asked my mom, and she said Catholic Schools Week is a national thing. :)

yep! my school does it! We're doing it this week too. Let's see, on Monday we wore dress up clothes and went ot chruch, on tuesday, we ran laps to help raise money to help find a cure for the disease Hunter Kelly has, wednesday each junior high class was assigned a country and we had to bring in food from that country and then we got to eat it all (it was quite yummy! lol) thursday (today) we wore mis-matched clothes and had a lip sync which is always good times (hehe) an tomorrow, friday, we wear green and gold (our school colors) and go ice skating and the girls varsity bball team plays the boys varsity bball team, guys are soooo goin down  ! lol. The best thing about catholic schools week is that the classes are always limited cuz of all the activites we do and that means less hw ;) and we don't have to wear uniforms for a whole week! lol

Awesome, Kellie! I was beginning to think I was the only person who'd ever heard of Catholic Schools Week... We only had two days where we didn't have to wear our uniforms! You're lucky that you had the whole week. Hehe. CSW is usually good times. :) We played in a volleyball game against the teachers... one of the teachers hit the ball and it landed right on my principal's head! LOL

hahaha, yeah the bball game today boys varsity against girls varsity was really fun. Of course, the girls lost. lol. The score was 29-37 so we actually played pretty well. And I scored 6 times!! lol. Too bad on monday we'll have to go back to uniforms and getting a lot of hw again, ugh:(

LOL Yup. Sad but true... :D Every kid in my grade had to write one. I had to read mine at Mass TWICE. I was only supposed to read at the 4:00, but the kid scheduled to read at the 5:30 didn't show up. I was serving anyways so I had to read it there too! LOL

I went to private school grades Kindergarden - 12th.
When I did I hated every minute of it. I hated my classmates. I hated the teachers. I hated the work. I hated Catholic schools week. We always had to go to Mass that Sunday with are class.
Then we did stupid little activities all through the week like dress up day & pajama day.Stupid junk like that. All in all I hated it then.
I hate it now. Espefcially my classmates. I hope they rot in Hell.

Division_Fan_Lisa ,
If only you knew how many times I came home crying & begging saying please Mom can't I change schools? You see my mom's whole family is strictly Catholic. I'm Catholic. I have been my whole life. They think you need to go to Catholic schools your entire life. Luckily My 9-12th high school years I got to go to a public high school. so the story does have a happy ending. My school catered to the rich kids more. Also you had the same jerks all through school. The teachers were really mean to. In 8th grade I was so depressed I had the meanest teacher & classmates. I wanted to see them all rot in Hell so bad.
When kids in your school are mean to you tell to "Rot in Hell"

I don't know exactly what all they did here ( I haven't read the article in the paper yet) but it was elebrated here. They had a parade downtown (This town LOVES parades. They have a parade for EVERYTHING) I know the mayor went and read to the kida one day, and that he proclaimed one of the days Catholic School day for the town (or something like that, I told you I haven't read the paper yet :D )

This town is very heavily Catholic, so even though I'm not, I still know about it. In fact, most of my friends are Catholic. I have been in many Catholic weddings since starting college. I never realized how different the wedding ceremonies could be until I went to my first one :) It's one I'll remember, that's for sure.

A parade?? Cool! LOL What did you notice that was different in the Catholic wedding ceremonies? I'm just curious because I'm used to them and just wondering what stands out as different and stuff.

To julian bozo: I'm sorry your experience wasn't so good. :( All in all, I love my school, but I know what you mean about being stuck with the same kids. I've been with some of the same kids since kindergarten. After awhile they get on your nerves... :)

What religion are you Ags, if you don't mind saying. I've only been to 2 weddings, one was Catholic (or at the very least Christian), the other was....well, it was held in a backyard (these people did not have alot of money. But it was still a nice wedding.) I can't remember if they got a priest or a justice of the peace.

Anyway, your comment reminded me of some culture shock I will always remember! A buddhist funeral! One of my roommates is Buddhist and when his dad died I went to the funeral, and it was really different, to say the least.

Anyway, all that is offtopic:

To keep this on topic, I went to Catholic school K-8, and I'm not sure if we celebrated Catholic schools week or not. However, we did have a week like julian bozo mentioned, where we had to do stupid stuff all week.

We had these "families" we formed, which were made up of students from every grade, K-8. One year, we had to get together with our families and each group was given a block of wood, and we were supposed to draw things on it about the joys  of being Catholic. So what does this little kid in my group, like a first grader....what does he draw all over? Little red swastikas.

Now under normal circumstances, I wouldn't find that very funny, but then at the same time the kid was so young he probably didn't understand the true meaning behind what he was drawing. However, what was amusing was the teacher's reaction to it, She totally flipped out! She wouldn't give us a new block of wood for some idiocitc reason, so we just had to turn the swastikas into little red boxes. The looked so stupid and out of place, and you could still make out the offending symbol anyway.

That was 7th grade....8th grade year, my best friend's "family" was doing face painting, and she took the brightest red paint she could find and wrote "PRO-CHOICE" in bright letters across her forehead. Then she just walked into the hall and paced up and down it, justing waiting and watching as the teachers all crapped themselves while simulatneously having aneurysms. :rotflmao: Then one of the teachers ordered her to go clean it off, and they got in this big argument over Freedom of Speech (but as we all know when you go to a private school you leave your rights outside when you walk through the door.) She eventually had to wash it off, but she only sort of smeared it, so she had this huge red mark on her head, so of course people would ask about it so the whole school found out anyway.
