Hello,
I can understand having to replace actors and actresses in sitcoms who have bit parts. But has anyone else noticed that in Leave It To Beaver, some of the characters names change. I wish I would of made a list of them and maybe some members can help me out with this.
Eddie's father changes first names in the program along with the actor. In "Beav puts a Voodoo curse on Eddie," Eddie's father's name is George Haskell, but in a later episode, where Eddie is suppose to spend the night at the Cleaver's, Eddie's father's name is Frank Haskell.
I know Gilbert's last name was "Gates" in the first episode he appeared in. You know, the one where he lied about everything to gain Beaver's friendship (trips to the North Pole, his father working for the FBI, etc.) Then for most of the life of the series, he was called Gilbert Bates. Doesn't Mrs. Rayburn refer to him by even another last name in possibly the last season? (I remember now, Gilbert is addressed as "Mr. Harrison.")
Who can forget that Edgar Buchanan was "Captain Jack" at the Alligator farm before he became Ward's Uncle Billy.
Whitey Whitney's mother was young in an early episode, but Whitey's parents are much older in the episode where Beaver falls in the Soup Bowl on the billboard.
How about Wally's girlfriends? The gal that started out as Gloria Quesak (sp?) in "Wally's Pug nose," ended up being Julie Foster in later episodes. Also, there is an episode where Pamela Baird, who played Mary Ellen Rogers, is a different girl, who Wally is going to have to buy an orchid for, because she is chairperson of the dance committee.
There are possibly more! Again any help on this would be appreciated.
Favorite scene of the day:
Beaver has locked himself in his bedroom because he knows about a picture that was published of Violet Rutherford kissing him. June answers the phone and it is Violet. Wally tells Beaver that Violet is on the phone. Beaver won't come to the phone, so Wally tells June, that Beaver said to tell Violet he was dead. June says she can't lie to Violet. Wally says, "Then just tell her that Beaver thinks she's Creepy!" June says she'll handle it.
June: "Violet, I'm sorry, Beaver is unavailable right now and can't come to the phone. Can I take a message?..... OK, Thank you."
Wally: "Gee Mom, I wish I could do that."
June: "Do what?"
Wally: "Give someone the brush-off and make it sound like you're doing them a favor."
June just scowls at Wally. (Sorry so long)
