Actress Julia Louis-Dreyfus, who stars as Vice President Selina Meyer in the new HBO series “VEEP,” told The Daily Caller that she is “very satisfied” with President Barack Obama’s performance in office and that she will vote for him again in the next election.
TheDC asked Dreyfus, best known for her role as Elaine Benes on the hit television show “Seinfeld,” if she hopes GOP presidential front-runner Mitt Romney chooses a female running mate.
“I’m a Barack Obama supporter myself so that’s all I’m going to say,” Dreyfus responded at the premiere of “VEEP,” which debuts on HBO Sunday, April 22.
“I’m very satisfied with the president and I’m looking forward to voting for him again,” she said.
In 2009 Vice President Joe Biden said his job was “easy” because you “don’t have to do anything.” TheDC asked Dreyfus if she agrees or disagrees with Biden, based on her experience with the show.
“Yes and no, is that a fair answer? I mean, I think that the Vice President’s — it’s a question of, it’s not that they don’t do anything, it’s that what they do and how important that is and the Vice President is a powerful position,” she said.
“I think at the same time it’s an entirely powerless position and inherent in that is great comedy, you know? I mean, because in fact, the Vice President has two constitutional duties, to preside over the Senate and to step in for the president should he or she become unable to govern. Other than that, there’s nothing.”
Dreyfus said she has not discussed the show with Biden.
“I met Biden before when he was campaigning. I did a goofy bit with him on the Ellen show but and I’m a huge fan but I haven’t had an opportunity to talk to him about this show yet,” she said.
“I think frankly, understandably, when we were shooting this originally, I think he was probably hesitant to talk to us or to me specifically because he didn’t know what the hell this show was going to be, you know what I mean? I get that.”

She may be only one of the few celebrities that think so...even some die-hard Dems WON'T vote for Obama the 2nd Time!

I dont agree with her choice, but she is entitled to vote for whomever she wishes.

What I find interesting about her is that she comes from one of the wealthiest families in the USA yet she is a Democrat. I don't know why that interests me because other wealthy people are Democrats like Warren Buffet but it does.
I am not happy about Obama but can't say I'm thrilled about Romney either. However I know many Obama supporters who are switching to Romney and many celebs who were Obama supporters are reportedly now Romney supporters.

I'm not sure why a celebrity feels more confident about Obama than the rest of us working stiffs. He's certainly going to go after OUR cash than his rich celebutante buds.
Hey, Elaine, give us a reason why WE should vote for Obama. After all, like 'Seinfeld', the Obama Show is a show about NOTHING!!!

The idea that the wealthiest people and families in the country are all Republicans is a total myth. While the two wealthiest members of Congress are Republicans, for example, the next eight on the list are all Democrats. And while John Kerry is #3 on the list (as of 2011), it doesn't take into account his wife's vast fortune or the allowance she gives him.
The #1 guy (R-Tex) also has a wife who is very wealthy (she's the daughter of Clearchannel's CEO).

Democrats have dominated these lists over the years in terms of the top 10.

I know it's a myth but it still amazes me because the Republicans are far more generous towards the rich than the Democrats are.

It's because...in my honest opinion...the rich don't have much to lose and life is fine. They can give more money than they can count...and still get more, as a matter of fact, The Republicans give more money to charities!
The poor...some of them...HAVE to rely on the Government, so if the Government helps them, they'll be happy. But if they don't...they'll be upset!
Why can't there be Democratic Celebrities like Paul Newman or Billy Joel or Robert DeNiro?

You mean Republican celebrities, right? those celebs are Democrats. But yes there aren't a lot of normal Republican celebs. You touched on the issue that many avoid is that many of the poor (let's be blunt the non working poor)vote Democrat because they get more goodies.

I didn't say anything about Republican Celebrities...I was saying that there's Limousine Democrats who WANT people to give more and won't give a damn dime to charities...they want it all!
I'm sure Drew Carey is a little more serious when he talks about the pet population on "The Price Is Right" and I'd want to have a beer with him, and yes...he's a Republican!

There's no question that the Democrats #1 objective has always been to make as many people dependent on government (taxpayer) handouts as possible. It doesn't matter to the elected officials that these peoples' lives are being destroyed because of their dependence. Liberal Democrats see that as acceptable collateral damage in exchange for votes.

Louis-Dreyfus feels extremely guilty about her wealth, which is not unusual for Hollywood libs. She probably doesn't think she's had to work very hard for what she's earned. But she also put a few years of low-paying stuff as well (true, her family is wealthy and she didn't "need" the money). SNL (3 years) doesn't pay a whole lot.
She's also very, very good at what she does. She was (imo) the best comic actress of the 90s, and was better than anyone from the 80s or 2000s. Someone like that is worth whatever they can get.
She's a complete moron when it comes to certain things... she doesn't understand anything about oil, for example and has made some positively asinine statements about it. But I like her anyway...politically she's pretty harmless.
Don't know what this new "Veep" show will be like, although I guess I could imagine, with her playing the VP. Probably won't waste my time on it. That's really the only reason she's in the news, it's not about Obama, it's about her new show.

Agreed, though I'm going to give the show a chance. It looks funny. I've already got my DVR set.

Those celebs you mentioned especially Paul Newman I believe give a lot to charity. I don't know much about Drew Carey's political views except I know he's a Ron Paul fan and there's a lot I like about Paul (and would consider voting for him). I do think celebs who expect all of us to pay more while they pay less are disgusitng no matter the party. I know here in Illinois the Dems in power keep asking for more in taxes while they get all these goodies the tax payers pay for.

This is a serious issue in Illinois. We have a dependent class who would rather collect welfare instead of work. When someone attacks the system they are called hateful names. For instance in 2006 the Republican candidate for governor spoke out on the medical system we have here where the former (now in prison)idiot governor wanted to expanped the healthcare to ALL kids regardless of income or immigration status. The Republican candidate said we shouldn't pay for all kids and of course she was branded a kid hater. Yet people voted for the moron governor instead of her and I think she would have been better.

I've spent a lot of time visiting Illinois and I think it's appalling that so many misguided voters in the state got behind Obama for Senator and started this whole mess -- once again, much of the blame must go to the media. He was a poorly qualified Senate candidate that got behind a liberal wave.
As a President, he's an egghead of an ineffective administrator, comparable to Jimmy Carter's ineptitude. Yet he remains a media darling, and those liberals behind TV and other mediums will continue to suppress the facts that reveal his promotion of a Socialistic agenda -- one that has the potential to destroy the US practically beyond repair.

I speak as a former Cook County resident and the reason to be very blunt is Illinois voters tend to be stupid. It is why we are have a terrible governor who loves to spend and then tax more to spend foolishly. Our welfare system is extremely generous to those who choose not to work but will not help those who fell on hard times through no fault of their own.

I watched the first 10 minutes of "Veep", that's all I could take... actually, I could only take about 5 minutes of it, but I decided to watch a few more minutes to see if anything funny would be said or done. It wasn't.
Holy crap, that show is bad. JLD used to be funny without using profanities... she's not funny when she uses them, but wow, it's kind of pathetic to see her in something like this. To be kind, the show is abysmal.

I saw an interview earlier and Julia said that she thinks it's important that women are in strong positions. The interviewer then said, "Like Sarah Palin?", and Julia rolled her eyes and said, "No, not Sarah Palin. I'd like to see 10 Democrat women in strong positions." I won't even sample the show now. So many celebrities just don't realize that it's not smart to alienate half your audience. She doesn't need my husband and I, two stupid Republicans.

You are so lucky that you didn't watch any of that... I'll never see those ten minutes again...they're gone...wasted... :crying:
But yeah, I saw that clip of her too in that interview. Pretty silly... especially since Sarah Palin does more before 6:00 am than any ten Democrat women do in a month.
JLD has always been a great comic actress imo... but in this show, the "f-bomb" was dropped something close to 10x during those 10 minutes...both by her and other cast members.
JLD's performance seemed pretty half-hearted itself (just during the part that I saw). After being on Seinfeld and New Adventures, I'm not so sure her heart is in this one. She HAS to know how bad it is.
Well, at least Pav won't be able to yell at me for criticizing a show I haven't seen... even though this is on HBO and not ABC.

Veep has gotten pretty much universal acclaim from critics, and a lot of people really liked it (including myself). So, I'm sure she is pretty proud of it. Also, the show is on HBO, so dropping the f-bomb is nothing new for them. It wouldn't be HBO if there *weren't* f-bombs!

The show is quite wonderful. I see no bias, really, just poking fun at politics and the people involved in them in general. It's like they are purposely not telling you what kind of administration it is. If you don't like the f woid, then I guess it's not for you...but other than that I see no room for criticism.
Although I'm sure if Patricia Heaton were in the role and said something like that, you'd all be fine with it and chuckle at her witticisms.

Patricia Heaton wouldn't be in a show like that. Not with that kind of a script. I wouldn't watch another episode of the show regardless of who was in it. It's probably true that most of the actresses I actually admire as people wouldn't associate themselves with a script like that...especially if they don't need the work/money.
But from what I saw, it seems like one of the things the show is trying to do is show how useless a Veep can be...but there was no direct mention of D or R from what I heard in the first few minutes... although you can tell she's a Democrat by the issues she is interested in.
As far as the "f" word goes, it can occasionally have its place... but constant repetitions of it are typically not necessary, and if a show has to resort to that, you can have it. Some things that were funny when I was 14 aren't worth watching now. Sometimes when people grow up, they prefer a more sophisticated kind of humor.

Ah, I forget. Patricia Heaton is a conservative, and thusly classy and above us all. You know, like other people of the American mid-west.
If that's your take on the show, fine. You have every right to not like it...I just hope you didn't go into it with a bit of a bias based on Julia's words. That'd be about as fair as me trashing Everybody Loves Raymond (which I absolutely love, btw) because I think Patricia Heaton is a little off her rocker.
And thanks, I'll take it. I quite enjoyed it and I know many, many others elsewhere on the sites of the interwebs who do as well.
EDIT: Oops, had to edit so I could reply to your edit where you subtly insulted me. Thanks for patronizing me, but I consider myself quite intelligent. I was 14 about nine years ago. Swear words don't always imply lack of intelligence. Was that a extensive usage of it in the show? Yeah, I'd say so, but I also have the maturity to overlook it and judge the show as a whole.

Personal attack much? Some people don't mind strong language, some do. It's whatever. Doesn't say anything about how "mature" you are.
I really don't even care about people's political views. Doesn't make any difference to me. I've also taken issue with things Patricia Heaton has said but I love her on The Middle and very much enjoy Everybody Loves Raymond, what she says on Twitter doesn't affect that.

Insulting mid-westerners, now, are we?
As far as having bias going in, the only bias I had going in was that I like JLD in just about everything she's ever done... Seinfeld is pretty much my favorite sitcom ever, and "The New Adventures of Old Christine" might be the only sitcom I regularly watched since Seinfeld went off the air. I admit I never saw that "Elle" show (or whatever it was called), but that's because I never really quite knew when it was on, and never got used to looking for it before it was cancelled. But I have all the respect in the world for JLD's body of work, which is why I tuned into Veep.
My Cousin Vinny used a lot of f-words (and s-words) but it was still one of the funniest movies I've ever seen... that kind of language fit the two main characters.
My prior comment was not meant to insult you. I'm basically saying that throwing a bunch of f-bombs into a script doesn't impress me, that's all. If you like it, feel free to watch it. I wasn't talking about you as a 14 year old, I was talking about me as a 14 year old.

No? Just poking fun at a comment she made once stating mid-westerners were better than the rest of us.
