I just watched the series finale for the first time and am speechless. I can't believe they actually call that a series finale....especially for the longest running show of its time. What does everyone else think?

It's an awful final. At the time, it was intended as a potential spin-off series for Blair as the new headmistress at Eastland. NBC just didn't pick the show up as a series. In the end it would have been better if they just tried to end the series in a propper way.

I've read, and heard form the lips of Mindy Cohn that NBC wanted a Season 10, but a few of the cast members didn't want to go on...

As a finale it wasn't so great but I liked the 2 episodes quite a bit. Being a Blair fan it was nice seeing her being strong and intelligent. I didn't think the child characters were interesting enough for a spin off though.

Nancy Mckeon had already announced that she was leaving the show.

When did Nancy say that she wanted to leave the show?

I read it in USA Today around January 1988. Actually it said that Nancy was leaving the show. That's before the spin-off talk with Lisa was announced. I don't know if Kim and Mindy were ready to call it quits or not.

I wouldn't have minded it so much if the reunion movie addressed what Blair did with Eastland after she bought it but they didn't, so it seems rather pointless now.

Oh how I wish we wouldve gotten a season 10. I wonder if NBC had planned for Season 10 to continue with Blair as head mistress of Eastland with the new kids. I think Blair, Pippa, Andy & possibly Beverly Ann wouldve been the only returning castmembers. Now that I think of it maybe it's better that the show didnt come back. I could see Season 10 being a huge disaster.
