Bob’s Burgers has a retro-treat on the menu for its season 2 premiere — and it includes a remake of Cyndi Lauper’s “The Goonies ‘R’ Good Enough,” EW has learned. Airing March 11, the episode will send up Steven Spielberg’s 1985 family adventure movie The Goonies, as the kids embark on a treasure hunt to an abandoned taffy factory, which happens to be scheduled for demolition. To enhance their homage, the producers asked Lauper to re-record her hit with special lyrics to play over the end credits. “My son really wanted me to do it,” Lauper notes. “He loves the show and was like, ‘C’mon, Mom, it’s hysterical. Do it.”
And how does Lauper think her Bob’s version stacks up against the classic? “Oh, it’s a classic too,” she says.”Very funny and in poor taste. My son finally thinks I am funny!”
