I guess we can assume that there will never be a happy ending with murder cases. Even when the killer is caught, the victim is still gone and can't be brought back. But there are cases such as missing loved ones that have been found that have happy endings. For example. The case of the girl looking for a father she never met. Her mother was raised in a strict catholic family and had an affair with this very handsome guy who was, I believe in the Army, she broke it off with him and married the guy her family approved of, but was pregnant with the Army guys kid, When the kid grew up she realized she didn't look anything like her other siblings and found that she had a different father then the one she knew. She began looking for him on UM and his wife happen to be watching UM at the time and woke him up from a nap telling him he had a daughter and she was looking for him. They finally met and it was happiness. I don't remember the girls name or her fathers. But I do remember that it was so heart felt.

Yep, the woman's name was Jeanie Wagner and her father's name was Duncan Gilmore. This is one of the all-time happiest UM endings ever as Duncan and his wife, Susan, are hands-down two of the most likable people to ever be featured on the show. I imagine some wives would be none-too-pleased to find out on TV that her husband had a daughter he never knew about, but Susan seemed just as excited as he was!

Even though the "Lost Loves" segments weren't my personal favorite, I always liked when they were updated. I guess you could say every single updated "Lost Loves" segement is a happy ending.

Oh yes,I love the one with Duncan and Jeannie. What a wonderful outcome. :)
I also like the one with the ghost from Pawley's Island.I was skeptical at first, but then I rewatched it and saw no deception (IMO) on their part.Gray man must have been a very nice man. :)

My two favorite Lost Loves happy endings were the woman who promised her childhood friend she would share her baby with her (they were very young and in the hospital together and the other friend was infertile because of whatever was wrong with her) and searched for her so she could make her friend godmother to her child. The other was the woman with (I think is was) polio looking for her childhood friend and some boy who taught them both to kiss called in as well.

I always like the one where that guy (I think his name was James) found his friend from Vietnam who saved his life. The reunion was reallly great to see.

I'm guessing it has the connotation of the "happy endings" at a massage parlor.

One of my favorites was the Tim Harrell segment. For those who don't remember, he was the journalist who had been abandoned in a trash can when he was just days old (there is some doubt as to whether or not this is true) and raised by his mother's aunt, Helen Harrell. Though Helen never made it a secret that she was not his actual mother, she always spoke negatively of her, and would become extremely nervous and defensive whenever Tim mentioned the possibility of wanting to see and know her.

One day when Tim was around 30, he received an "out of the blue" phone call from his mother. She was pleading with him to allow her to meet him and his son, but at that time, he still believed that everything told to him by Helen was the truth, and as a result, became very angry with his mother over the phone, telling her to get lost and leave him alone.

Helen Harrell died in 1983, but another 7 years would pass before thoughts of his mother would cross Tim's mind again. Sometime in 1990, he and his wife attempted to gather information about his adoption. The adoption representative was cold and evasive and refused to provide Tim with much of the information he wanted. Thankfully, she had to leave the room for a few minutes and did not bother putting the adoption file away. Tim wasted no time sneaking a peek at it, and in doing so, discovered that all of the terrible things he thought he knew about his mother were not true after all.

So, in the segment, which aired around 1996 or '97, he very emotionally says "I've got to find my mother, and if she's not alive, then I want to go to her grave and pay her the proper respect" or something like that. Fortunately with help from UM viewers, his mother was discovered to be alive and well and still as anxious to see her son as he was to see her, and it was quite a tearful reunion.

Another one of my all-time favorite happy ending segments (that unfortunately happened too late for UM to film the reunion) was the story of Michele Donahoe West. For those who may not remember, she was the 15 year old girl who felt that her parents had taken her good life away from her when they decided to move from Texas to Virginia. So she ran away from her new home and hopped a bus to Texas, determined to go back to her good friends and the life they knew together. While on the bus, she meets 3 truck drivers, and just over the course of the time they spent on the bus together, they became very close, and Michele was actually very sad when it came time for them to part ways.

The reason why I like this one so much is because it's rare for a teenager to get themselves into a potentially dangerous situation like that and end up meeting a total stranger that ends up making such a profound impact on their life, and since this happened before the days of cell phones, Facebook, online people searches, and other things that would make finding someone relatively easy nowadays, finding them after so much time would be much more difficult.

Anyway, one of the men, Jesse "Doc" Garrett, was watching the segment and was overjoyed to discover that the meaningfulness of what had taken place almost 20 years before had not been lost upon Michele, and as far as I know, they did talk to and eventually see each other again, but as I unfortunately mentioned before, we never actually did get to see a taped reunion.

Thank you so much. I really loved that story. It is a true happy ending.
