How can a box-office bomb win the Best Picture Academy Award? $83 million against a $150-170 million budget? Why was Hugo a massive failure at the box office?

Mark my words, if The Artist wins big at the Awards, I would not be surprised if I see an ad for another kind of film that hasn't been seen in theaters for at least 60 years. The Ads in the paper (and at the Theatre) will read "A (Name of Studio) Serial in X Chapters"! :eek: Hey, I wouldn't mind if Hollywood goes "Old School", but this is taking things to an extreme! :lol: :rofl: :rotflmao: :brent

Usually once a film is nominated for awards they are rereleased in theatres (if they're not already on DVD).

Oh, and by the way, if only box office smashes won Oscars, THE WIZARD OF OZ wouldn't have been nominated for anything back in 1939, CLEOPATRA in 1963, and 2008's Best Picture winner THE HURT LOCKER.
