Does anyone remember the story about the 1956 murder of a man in Louisiana and the disappearance of his lover? It re-aired recently on Lifetime, but I only got to watch the first half of that case. About all I remember from it is the man's last name.
That's one of the first Unsolved Mysteries segments that I saw. I remember that it aired in the spring of 1989. That time period was the start of my watching the show. The woman who disappeared was named Audrey Moat (if I spelled that surname correctly).

Yes, it was Audrey Moat. She disappeared after her lover was murdered. Apparently, the pair were making out in his car when he was shot and she was chased off (possibly murdered, too). Audrey's daughter is still trying to figure out what happened.
The best possible scenario is that she and her lover were both murdered by a mean old guy that lived on and owned the same land that Audrey and her lover were parked on while they were making out. This guy and his wife shot anyone that came close to their property, and this guy had some run-ins with Audrey and her love right before the shooting. The daughter of this mean old guy also claims that he bragged he had killed Audrey and her lover.
The spot where the car was parked at the time of the shooting is now underwater. Nothing else has been found.
