Obviously this case needs no introduction. The infamous first "Final Appeal" case ever profiled on Unsolved Mysteries (Special #3 - September 24, 1987):

Here are some articles pertinent to the case:

5-24-78 (St. Petersburg Times - Marcia A. Slacum)
Article detailing the arrest of Consagra for the murders of Freddie Douberley and Mary Lou Holmes. Includes interviews with Pinellas County Sheriff William Roberts as well as an acquaintance of Consagra's Budley Albury. Of note this article contradicts a key point in the UM segment noting that the pistol used to shoot Holmes was not linked to Consagra

8-25-78 (The Evening Independent - Nancy Kalwary / St. Petersburg Times - Valeria M. Russ)
During the early stages of Glenn Consagra's trial his lawyers Thomas Granahan and Grant Halliday succeeded in having Judge John S. Andrews removed from the case due to what they believed to be prejudice in favor of the prosecution. On this date Andrews ruled on a separate motion that removed Granahan and Halliday from the case leaving Consagra without representation. One of the articles also details a suicide attempt by Consagra and the belief by attorney Granahan that Consagra's mental state is leaving him unable to assist in his defense.

9-29-78 (The Evening Independent - Nancy Kalwary)
As noted in the St. Petersburg Times article posted above, Halliday and Granahan were replaced by Lloyd Mosley as appointed by Judge Andrews. Of note in this article is a threat overheard by unnamed friends of the victims where Consagra threatened to kill Freddie and Mary Lou and "throw them to the crabs". The stolen property ring angle mentioned in the UM segment is also brought up here as well.

11-14-78 (St. Petersburg Times - Valeria M. Russ / The Evening Independant - Nancy Kalwary)
These articles deal with Consagra pleading guilty / no contest to the murders of Freddie Douberley and Mary Lou Holmes. Assistant State Attorney Lee Fugate mentions they accepted a plea bargain from Consagra in part due to the fact the parties were intoxicated at the time of the murders drawing into question the issue of premeditation. Evidence of a sexual relationship existing between Holmes and Consagra is also mentioned here. There is also mentions of all the circumstantial evidence as detailed in the UM segment as well the mention of Consagra being in possession of a small blue rug which according to a friend Consagra had borrowed in order to conceal a gun.

While in prison Glenn Consagra along with another inmate (Steven Walker) formed a group called "Convicts For A Cause" which helped needy children. This article details the group's efforts in allowing ten year old boy stricken with leukemia to visit an amusement park.
