Do you think absence make the heart grow fonder or out of sight out of mind with Community now that it has been pulled from the mid season schedule?

Once a show has been pulled from a schedule and goes on 'hiatus" it always seems like it's fate is sealed. I don't have a dog in this fight as I've never seen the show (I've heard the almost frightening fervor with which people sing it's praises on the 'net, but just didn't get an interested vibe from the previews I've seen and it's probably too late now anyway), but I'd be surprised if it's still airing this time next year, at least on NBC.

I happen to agree with you Retro, there is no good that can come from going on a hiatus, especially if you were ratings challenged as it is.

"Community" is one of the best comedies on TV today. Unfortunately, ratings don't reflect that. I don't know what the future holds for this show (worthy of all the praise it gets) but NBC has mentioned that they did this to "Parks & Recreation" and that show came back for a fourth season. I think "Community" has a bad time slot (opposite the #1 comedy "The Big Bang Theory"). I think they should simply move it to a better time and see what happens instead of putting it on hiatus.

Also, the fans for this show are so passionate about it and loyal to it that no one is going to forget the show. I can't say this will help bring in new viewers but it won't lose any of the current viewers (unless some of them die before it's brought back).

Interesting comments indeed Adam, the thing is, where on NBC's weak schedule can you put it where it will get recognized?

I imagine the slot following "The Office."
I got word from a friend (and this could just be a rumor, he didn't send me a link) that NBC will put Community on Tuesdays when it returns.

I think it could go either way at this point. With any other network I'd say it's definitely dead, but this is NBC, and really anything can happen.
The thing that will work in Community's favor is that it is really close to being eligible for a syndication deal and Sony has been known to fight for their shows to reach syndication at all costs ('Till Death anyone? That show was in way worse shape than Community but Sony pushed FOX to give it a fourth season for syndication). Plus, it's NBC and they really don't have much to lose at this point. I don't see Whitney or Are You There Chelsea making it to a 2nd season so they'll have room on their schedule.

I think it's probably going to either replace Whitney or Chelsea if one of them tanks (which, looking at Whitney's ratings, seems likely). Also, NBC has a full season of 30 Rock to air from January to May, meaning they need to go repeat-free. I could see them airing Parks repeat-free, having them end their season in late March/early April, and then shuffling Community in for the remainder of the year. We'll see I guess.
