Jonathan Winters was such a huge comic back in the 60's and 70's and then came Mearth. Did it kill his career?

While the character of Mearth might not be a highlight of his career, it certainly didn't kill it. By the time he agreed to do it, he had nothing left to prove.

Jonathan went on to win an Emmy for playing the grandfather on 'Davis Rules', so I would say that his career didn't suffer.

My opinion of Jonathan was changed after Mork and Mindy. I can't put my finger on why exactly but he never seemed as funny after.
