Dear Nick at Nite Viewer Services,

I have a proposal for Nick at Nite: to make a deal with NBC Universal Television Distribution for Nick at Nite to have exclusivity in airing reruns of the hit 1990-1996 sitcom "Dream On," which was created by John Landis.

The show centered on Martin Tupper (Brian Benben), a 32-year-old recently divorced New York City book editor who shared custody with his wife of 10 years, Judith (Wendie Malick), of their 11-year-old son, Jeremy (Chris Demetral).

Other characters included Toby Pedalbee (Denny Dillon), Martin's secretary; Eddie Charles (Dorien Wilson), Martin's best friend for 25 years and host of a local talk show; and Gibby Fiske (Michael McKean), Martin's employer at work.

John Landis conceived the idea for "Dream On" upon realizing that he owned a ****load worth of black-and-white film clips from the Universal Studios Television library (mainly from 1950s anthology shows). With Universal's permission, John decided to use the clips as his lead character's thoughts.

John soon hired the eventual producer/creators of "Friends," Marta Kauffman, David Crane, & Kevin Bright (then aspiring New York City playwrights), to write a pilot script for him and help him pitch the show to execs at Universal Studios Television, which greenlit the show and produced it for 8 seasons, 6 years, and 120 half-hour episodes.

Tentatively, Nick at Nite shall add "Dream On" to its regular schedule on Monday, July 2, 2012 with a week-long salute to the show titled "Nick at Nite Dreams On," showcasing all 120 half-hour episodes (18 Monday-Thursday from 9 p.m.-6 a.m. each night, encoring the last 2 from 6-7 a.m., 16 on Friday from 9 p.m.-4 a.m., encoring the last 6 from 4-7 a.m., 16 on Saturday from 10 p.m.-6 a.m., encoring the last 2 from 6-7 a.m., and the final 16 episodes on Sunday from 9 p.m.-5 a.m., encoring the last 4 from 5-7 a.m.) complete, uncut, & unedited, just the way that they originally aired on the HBO Television Network--minus nudity/profanity, which shall, respectively, be toned down (waist up for male actors, shoulders up for female actors in frontal scenes, and back up for bare bun scenes) and dubbed with network euphamisms, e.g. **** with crap and **** with screw, depending on verility.

After the marathon, THIS shall be the Nick at Nite Summer 2012 schedule starting Monday, July 9, 2012 and concluding Sunday, September 2, 2012.
