Betty White is amazing. At 89 years young, she is doing things no 20 or 30 year old actor can do. She is all over the place. Let's face it though, she is still no spring chicken. With that said, how long do you think Hot in Cleveland should last? Can the show survive with less Betty (Elka) or even without Betty???

I say keep going for as long as Betty can keep going!!!! :D But honestly, I don't know what they'll do once Betty is unable to keep going. She is THE star of the show - not to take anything away from the likes of Bertinelli/Leeves/Malick. I try not to think that far ahead.

Could it go on without her though?

Hmmmm...good question. That's a toughie. I don't think anyone can even imagine HIC without Betty, but if this show is going to keep running for the long haul, TPTB are going to have to figure out some kind of plan to try to keep the show going. Who knows how the fans will react? I guess we'll just have to cross that bridge once we get to it.

Well said, I guess I am just curious to know if this show is anything without Betty White? I love it by the way, but wonder aloud how many people would love it if Betty wasn't involved?

Well, Cloris isn't exactly a spring chicken herself. Besides, she didn't exactly have a happy experience replacing Charlotte Rae on FOL. But we'll see.

Cloris is already a regular on Raising Hope.
I do think the show can survive if they replace her with another legend. I don't know who that would be. They could make it her sister or something. This reminds me alot of the setup of the Golden Girls with Betty playing the Sophia role. lol

I certainly hope it lasts for a few more years. But about HiC with no Betty, there was an episode recently that only had her for like a few secs. It was still a good episode, but I did kind of miss her. I *think* it could go on without her, but I don't want to see that happen!

 The episode that had Betty in it for such a short time frame seemed to lack the appeal that episodes with her have. She's funny. I don't know if the show could survive without her.

All the women are equally good and have the their moments of humor, however, I think that Betty is what makes that show really funny anymore and I think they should only go for as long as she can and when she is done than they should be as well.

IMO, Betty White will hold the distinction of being the only person to be around when television was born and when it died. When she goes, television itself should just be canceled.
But seriously...I believe the show will have one more full season order and perhaps a shortened final 10 episode order, for 5 seasons total, with Betty included, and she will be alive and well and continuing to be productive even after the show signs off.
