Are people getting a little tired with this show or what?

The Middle (8.6 mil/2.6, down double digits from premiere)

That's solid ratings for this show. It's in its third season, so with syndication near, it's going nowhere. Expect a fourth season, and possibly a fifth and beyond as long as it keeps pulling these numbers.

Understood, but do you think this show could survive away from its cushy Wednesday time slot?

Cushy? It leads off the night and has established an audience without any help! Cushy is the 9:30 slot! It's also up against The X-Factor. It's doing very well for ABC.

This is a ridiculous post Brian. It hit SERIES highs last week with a 3.1 18-49 rating. It always does these 8-9 million ratings and a 2.6 or so. It is very consistent. I know it isn't Back To You for you, but this show does better.

While Back to You certainly was a FAR superior show than The Middle, it did drop double digits from premiere. It does well yes, just do me a favor Pav, STOP EDITING MY POSTS that aren't the least bit offensive.

..."THE MIDDLE" performs quite well in its time period, but keep in mind that CBS' "SURVIVOR" and FOX's "THE X FACTOR"- at the same hour- have been "siphoning" a number of viewers away in recent weeks.

Final ratings from last night now have The Middle doing a 2.7. Honestly, dropping just 4 tenths from its premiere is a big deal to you? Do the math--is that a big drop? Modern Family went from a 6.1 to 5.7 -- that is four tenths, too. There are many other series that have dropped much more in week two this season. And The Middle's season premiere last week was one-hour--last night was just a half-hour. It built throughout the hour last week. To ask if people are getting tired of the show is ridiculous when it hit a series high last week and last night's ratings are on par with last year. And you called it a cushy slot, which makes no sense. Sorry to nitpick, but this just doesn't make any sense.

And as for Back to You, that is your opinion. The Middle has had plenty of critical fans since it launched. Not many as Modern Family, but obviously the series is well-liked by viewers and critics. I don't recall any critical acclaim for Back to You.

I think that's the main reason The Middle's ratings aren't bigger than they are. Last week was a one hour episode too.

I think ABC is very happy with the ratings though. It leads off one of ABC's most successful nights. I think the only week link on the lineup is Happy Endings.
