When Bob is woken up from his dream and proceeds to tell Emily all about it, he neglects to mention that he had a handyman at the inn (George) who was a total ringer for "The Peeper"? Both roles, of course, were played by the late (great) Tom Poston.

I didn't notice that but it would have been appropriate for Bob to mention especially considering that Suzanne Pleshette(Emily) and Tom Poston (The Peeper/George Utley) got married in real life!

True, but they didn't wed until 2001. I think it would've been appropriate for Bob to mention that the handyman looked like the Peeper because Emily couldn't stand him.

Very true! Emily never did get along with the Peeper! (She wasn't too crazy about Bob when he was hanging out with the Peeper either!)

The fact that "Emily" didn't like "The Peeper" makes the fact that they later wed in real life even more ironic!! Actually, Suzanne Pleshette and Tom Poston had dated briefly in the 1960s, but later married other people. It wasn't until after both their respective spouses died that the longtime friends tied the knot in 2001.

What is the Deal with FOX? They put out one season of Newhart, and then, no more! They put out 4 seasons of The Bob Newhart Show, but won't release the last 2 seasons! The 3 final seasons of The Mary Tyler Moore Show were stalled for a long time before they decided to finally release them, and they won't let Shout! Factory finish off Rhoda, with its final season!!!

I sure wish I could see the finale of Newhart again!!

Yes I did notice that!!! Actually, there are so many signs throughout the run of Newhart that it was just Bob Hartley's dream...and the Peeper's presence is one of the big ones. I think I'm going to take some time to dedicate a post just to that, but it would've made total sense for him to wake up and be all, "Emily, Cliff was the handyman..." on the other hand, she was mad enough that he was dreaming he was married to a blonde...you know Emily and you know she hates two things: Bob with other women and Bob with Cliff. Maybe he just considered that he better refrain from telling her that Cliff was in his dream...I don't know, but it was for sure, the most epic television show ending ever!
