Who the F*ck is watching college football on a sunday while the NFL is on?

Why is TV so f*cking strange today? It was always college football on Thursday, and Saturday, and the NFL on Sunday and Monday.

I think it was just for today since the NFL wasn't on. I doubt they'll be any on next Sunday.

Do any of you get irritated the way they weasel in commercials during football games ? A team scores a touchdown, then they go to commercials, they come back for the kickoff, which lasts about 10 seconds, then back for more commercials. Why even show the kickoff ?
And I think some of those coach's timeouts and player injuries are excuses to show more commercials.

I been seeing that pattern for years,

team scores and kick extra point....commercial

team kickoffs off and the guy is tackled...commercial

I think I been seeing that for 15 years lol

Yeah, that's been going on for a long time (the extra commercials after extra points and then again after the kickoff). Very annoying

And the time out situations are a total joke, both in the NFL and the NBA.

One thing happened last season that told us all we need to know about timeouts... some of you who play fantasy football might remember this one...

On Oct 8, 2010, ESPN was broadcasting a Monday night game between Jacksonville and Tennessee.

With about 2 minutes to go in the 4th quarter, Tennessee was up 23-3. The game was over, Tennessee had pulled RB Chris Johnson who, to that point, had rushed for 76 yards and been kept out of the end zone.

The officials received word from ESPN that they needed a couple of more breaks in the action to get in the last of the sold advertising. At that point, the officials went to then-Tennessee head coach Jeff Fisher (whose team was up 23-3) and they asked him if he would mind taking another time out or two, because they needed to get some more commercials in.

You can imagine Fisher's reaction. I'll clean it up... he said "You've got to be kidding me, we're up by 20 points with 2 minutes to go, I just want to get a first down and run the clock out and get outta here"

So then, the officials go to Jack del Rio (Jacksonville coach) and ask if HE wouldn't mind taking a time out or two. He says "fine, no problem". So he takes the time outs.

Meanwhile, Fisher's not happy about that at all. But now, because Jax took the time outs, Tennessee can no longer run the clock out. So with 1:40 to play, Tennessee has the ball, 4th down and 5, on Jax's 35 yard line.

Johnson, who'd been pulled from the game after failing to run for a first down when it was 3rd and 5, was put back into the game to go for it on 4th down. He gets the handoff and runs 35 yards for a TD. After the extra point, Tennessee won 30-3.

That TD run not only got Johnson fantasy points for his TD, it also put him over 100 yards, which is also a bonus in many leagues (including mine).

I lost my FF game that weekend on that TD run that never should have happened. All because ESPN just HAD to get another time out in there.

The NBA is a joke when it comes to time outs as well. They have automatic stoppages of play at certain points in each quarter. But instead of admitting that it's a TV time out, they'll say "Phil Jackson wants a 20 second time out... oh wait, he changed it to a full time out, we'll be back after these messages".

The NBA wants us to believe that Phil Jackson, who's been a head coach forever, is so confused on the sidelines that he doesn't even know if he wants a 20 second or a full time out. Then they blame going to a commercial on the fact that the coach was confused. "You know folks, we never would have gone to commercial there if the coach had taken the 20 second time out he originally called, but when he changed his mind and took a full time out, we had to go to a commercial"

And yeah, I'm sure the Sunday college games were simply because the NFL won't start their Sunday games for another week. It's not going to be a regular thing.

All those Commercial Breaks (As well as what they Advertise ON those Breaks) have TURNED ME OFF from watching ANY Televised Sports. If I want to watch a Football Game, there's a High School within walking distance of my house, and they charge only a couple of bucks to watch. Since their games are NOT Televised, the games only last about two hours. Although many of their Players aspire to play in College (and hopefully, Professional) Games, I know 90% will never make it that far, and will end up getting Jobs like the rest of us. Real People, Playing a Real Game, and not for the Money.

I've also basically stopped watching sports on tv for many reasons.BTW, the only pro sports that don't seem to have hundreds of commercials during the game, are international sports like tennis.Since they are also televised in countries like France, the countries of the UK etc. etc. they would never get away with having commercial breaks every few minutes. They'd have riots if they did.lol
