It is one thing to appreciate the genius of All In The Family as a TV Show. As a part of The Wonder Years Generation, it is perhaps the show of our times.
I think the most interesting thing of all is that Carroll O'Connor was almost exactly the opposite of Archie Bunker. Make no mistake, Archie had a kind heart that he was loathe for anyone to see, but it was there if you were really paying attention you know that.
Carroll is one of the people that has made this world a better place to live in. Through Archie Bunker and through the real man, not a TV star, but a giant of our times...

He certainly was the opposite of Archie........I saw somewhere that he did TV commercials for Ted Kennedy in his 1980 primary campaign against Jimmy Carter.

He did the sadest commercial ever after his son died. He was talking about how his son had died and that he wanted to prevent something like that from happening again. I saw this commercal on;y once and I was like ten, but I can still remember the pain in his eyes and voice. He will be greatly missed.
