I don't know what to tell you, but I was wondering....if your screen is all dark...then how were you able to type and post this?

I don't even know what that is, but I'm glad you're still able to post on here. I hope you find some luck with your problem.

do you have an external monitor you can plug in to? - if not, either try to borrow one or do it at work; your laptop should have either a vga out plug (usually blue with 15 pin holes) or video out port (yellow RCA 1-pin plug), plug it in and when it detects the monitor a "New Display Detected" window should pop-up, select the mirror or duplicate display option and it should show your desktop on the external display
if this does not work you possibly have a driver problem, boot in to Safe Mode (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/tutorials/tutorial61.html) and see if your screen is still dark - if it is not go to the Device Manager (http://www.vistax64.com/tutorials/193584-device-manager-install-driver.html) and uninstall the video driver (right-click on My Computer, click on Properties, then Device Manager, click on the + sign beside Display Adapters, then right click on the adapter it lists under that and click on Uninstall)
reboot the computer, let it reload the driver and see what happens.
if the screen is dark in safe mode, and is dark even when you first boot-up (right from the BIOS screen) then your backlight is probably bad so you need to contact your pc manufacturer and hope it is still under warranty.
sometimes if you turn the computer off and let it cool down the backlight may come on intermittently, or it may have a bad connection and moving the lid may make it go on or off, but either way it is bad news.

Just came back from the repair shop and it was $180 with a $50 deposit. I'm so f*cking disgusted now
The 180 wouldn't have been so bad if I was getting the laptop back tomorrow. I have to wait until next tuesday.
