"Degrassi" Season 11 Preview: Secrets, Tragedies & Graduation

The newly Emmy-nominated classic Canadian series "Degrassi" is returning for an eleventh season (can you believe it?!) -- again, as it was last year, in telenovela style.
Are you ready for seven straight drama-packed weeks of teen angst, heartbreaking sorrow and adolescent hormones? Cuz that's what's coming.
Season 11 of "Degrassi" introduces three new characters, and takes on issues like gang violence, drug abuse, bullying, gender identity, sexuality and teen parenthood. As the school year draws to a close and the senior class prepares to graduate and move on, everyone realizes they'll only be in high school once so it's now or never -- so expect the sparks to fly.
When someone's past catches up with another's present, the lethal consequences reverberate throughout the school. With freshmen joining the student body, new and forbidden love triangles are formed. As senior students prepare for graduation and prom, a bitter race for a new student council president develops and an illicit relationship blossoms on campus.
AOL TV caught up with three "Degrassi" stars to find out what's up with their characters in the upcoming season (besides the inevitable "Degrassi" tragedy, of course).
Aislinn Paul (Clare Edwards):
"Our characters [Clare and Eli] just broke up at the end of last season, and I think there will be repercussions there. We're trying to deal with it in our own way."
Munro Chambers (Eli Goldsworthy):
"There may be tragedy, yeah. Probably. Yeah."
Charlotte Arnold (Holly J. Sinclair):
"My class is finally leaving the halls of Degrassi. Our storylines will be wrapping up, and hopefully everyone makes it out healthy and happy! [Laughs] But we all know what happens at Degrassi. Stay tuned to find out!"
The latest season of "Degrassi" starts on Monday, July 18 at 9PM ET on MuchMusic in Canada and TeenNick in the US.
