Is is correct that the board has been asked not to discuss any details of the murders of the two Marys by authorities??? Or is it certain parts of the case......you would think any publicity may produce new leads, jog memories, etc

Yes. Unfortunately, we cannot speak about this case on here.

thanks Hambone......this is one of the most intriguing cases on UM....I swear I saw it recently DVRd on Spike or Lifetime within the last month....it would be great to know more, but I guess we need to heed the warning from the powers that be

Well, that's odd.

Unfortunately rules are rules. Kind of like Houdinis secrets were not supposed to be revealed until a certain time years after his death and I believe details of JFKs death were not to be revealed until some date in which case everyone alive at the time would be dead. Not sure on that but I read it somewhere.

I guess it is up to the detectives of the Harris County cold case squad when people can talk about it on this forum. The directive was made in 2005.

This is a free country, we certainly COULD talk about the case and there's nothing the police or anyone else could do about it.

As I understand it, the PD requested of the moderators that we not discuss the case. Given the purpose of this board, they agreed. That's wholly reasonable and as a good-faith gesture, they and we agreed.

It's voluntary censorship, however.

Yes it is voluntary and I am reasonably sure that the moderators still adhere to the detectives' request for a good reason even though the original request was in late 2005 and in response to one of the people that were on the UM 2 Mary episode. There might be more to the reasons. The best thing is to comply until the restriction is lifted. Perhaps a call could be made to the detectives but I'm not doing it.
