Of the two failed Law & Order spin offs that were canceled after only one season, which was your favorite? Trial by Jury or Law & Order: LA???

I'd have to vote for LA. At least TBJ had Jerry Orbach, if only for a brief while.

Why exactly did "Trial by Jury" not make it?

TBJ aired on Friday nights, coming on the air as a midseason replacement. Ratings were actually decent in that slot, and NBC was going to bring it back for a second season. I read somewhere that Dick Wolf said he was "blindsided by NBC, and they cancelled it instead." :(

I liked both shows, I have the TBJ DVD set (I do like that a little better than LA overall). Both are good, quality dramas that weren't given a proper shot by the network.

I am a big L&O fan. I have watched the original series for the past 20 years.

I watched Law and Order: LA and liked what I saw. The DA who became a police detective suddenly overnight was a bit weird, but I like the actor and stayed with it. The stories were basic L&O fare. Maybe that was the problem. After 20 years, you run out of ideas. SVU has slipped into ridiculous shark filled waters for awhile. But I hate that L&O:LA wasn't given a second season, I think Dick Wolf deserved it for making the network so much money.

I loved L&O: Trial By Jury. Great, great show and am very sorry it was cancelled. The premise was interesting and I love Bebe Neuwirth.

I am afraid when SVU and CI get cancelled, that will be it. But it has been 21 years and it has been a great ride.
