A day after the Tony Awards nominations were announced, next comes the naming of the host. It will be ... wait for it ... Neil Patrick Harris. I'm told Harris will soon be set to host the Tony Awards telecast that CBS will broadcast June 12 from the Beacon Theatre. Harris's position as the star of one of CBS' most important comedies, How I Met Your Mother, certainly gave him an inside track, but he hosted two years ago and proved himself to be a versatile performer who did a fine job. Sean Hayes, who will be busy playing Larry Fine in the Farrelly Brothers-directed Three Stooges movie at 20th Century Fox, hosted last year.

I just watched this and he was absolutely hilarious! I am always forgetting about the Tony's but thanks to a fellow SO member, I was able to DVR it. Really good show, but I have to say that the opening number was interesting to say the least. It was hilariously funny but it still surprised me somewhat. His bit with Hugh Jackman when they were bantering back and forth about who was the best host was hilarious as well.
I loved seeing David Hyde Pierce, Kelsey Grammar, and Harry Connick Jr as well as a bunch of other actors/actresses that I had no idea were in Broadway musicals and plays.
I think the Tonys are my favorite award show because they don't mess around. They get right down to business with handing out the awards and there's no dragging it out to 3 and 4 hours.

He was so good on the Tonys! He should host every year. And the Oscars too.
