In a May 3, 1979 Issue of Jet Magazine, it was mentioned that Esther Rolle still had not been contacted by CBS about the show being cancelled even though it was saying the show was cancelled in the newspapers.
Damm, CBS execs were operating like that in 70's too?-lol Wow, when you are a hit show CBS loves and when your stops pulling in viewers the network cancels your show.........quietly-lol

CBS did the same thing to ABP too. lol Just like the Jeffersons, they should have known. I wonder when they taped that final episode? And if CBS renewed it, what the show would have looked like? lol

I guess CBS figured they will find out in the press that the show was canned-lol Someone on the cast had to know the show was not even being aired for the first months of 79. Also what stopped the show from being cancelled after the 5th season was the return of Esther Rolle

Season seven could have focused on their new beginnings and learn that there are new troubles even though you might have money.

CBS did not screw Ms. Rolle and her cast-mates. The producers screwed Ms. Rolle and her cast-mates.
