NBC has decided not to bring back one of its familiar summer reality series, reports the Futon Critic, and it’s not the first time the show has been shelved.
The series is "Last Comic Standing," which twice before has been backburnered for more than a year at a time. Given that history, this may not be the last we’ve seen of the show.
"The Office's" Craig Robinson hosted the series during its summer run in 2010.

"Well, we feel 'LAST COMIC STANDING' has run its course, and that there are too many reality and competition shows on our network these days. So, beginning this summer, NBC is going to present 'THE NEXT TONIGHT SHOW HOST'. Since Jay Leno isn't taking our threats about not renewing his contract seriously enough, we're going to hold LIVE 'open air' auditions every Friday night from June through September. Hey, we'll take anybody, just as long as they look good in front of a camera! We're looking for personalities, no deep thinkers or people with brains, just someone a studio audience can 'connect' and empathize with....the 'talent' comes later. Much later...especially at renewal time. Anyway, watch for...*urrrrkkkkkk*!!"

As a comedian said on one of the Comedy Central roasts, "This show has been on for x amount of seasons, and has launched no one."
