The General Lee is the main culprit of this ordeal because of the Confederate Flag being displayed proudly on the roof of the stock car. Do you agree with the NAACP that "The Dukes" was a breeding ground show for racism?

I don't think it was racist at all, the NAACP just wants to find something to gripe about like PETA. I watched an episode of The Waltons a few weeks ago and there was a scene where Verdie Grant was talking with John-Boy's teacher and the confederate flag was displayed in plain sight. If anyone from the NAACP saw this and didn't gripe then they have no business saying anything about The Dukes of Hazzard.

The Dukes of Hazzard was all about family and friendship and it always made you feel good at the end of the episode. More shows should be like that.

Actually, as I remember the show going, they went out of their way to show a suspiciously small number of minorities throughout its run. I call this the "Beverly Hillbillies effect" where, if you don't have many (or any) minorities ON the show, then you don't have to deal w/ the "unfortunate implications" of any potential prejudices the main characters may have.
As far as the flag...if people want to display the loser flag of a failed idea, by all means, go ahead. The Constitution is there so everybody can be free to express themselves.

Plus it was/is just plain FUN to watch. Can you say that about may (if any) of the shows on the air today? Didn't think so.

Here is what the show's creator, Gy Waldron, had to say on this topic in "Dukes of Hazzard, The Unofficial Companion" by David Hofstede.
Gy Waldron was frequently asked whether any African-Americans lived in Hazzard County. "Originally, the setting was based on Falmouth, Kentucky, and Chatsworth, Georgia, and at the time there was not one black person living in either place," said Waldron. "But we finished our first four shows and said, 'We're all white, and we don't like it.'" To compensate, the show made it a policy to make some visiting villains, as well as several federal agents who would check up on Boss Hogg, African-American. "We also made the Sheriff of the next county, "Big Ed" Little, an African-American, and we had a lot of fun with that character", Waldron said.

No. why do people try to see everything through the eyes of race? The Dukes had friends that were black, white , Chinese (Billy Joe Wong). There were also hispanics on the show (cannot recall exact episodes). The Dukes also never treated anybody differently (none of the main characters did). The garbage that spews from Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson is FAR more racist than anything the NAACP claims to be racist. The Confederate flag does NOT stand for racism. It is associated with the Confederate States of America which were defeated in the Civil War. Yes, many confederate states practiced slavery. It was ended nearly 150 years ago. NOBODY living today is even remotely affected by racism. If you still feel that you as an individual are oppressed because of slavery then you are looking for nothing more than a free ticket on the victim train. A family friend grew up in a home with an abusive and alcoholic father. She is fine today and makes no excuses. She overcame. You are only limited by your self.

No The Dukes was absolutely not racist.
Also, they did a good job portraying Big Ed Little as mean, but fair and not corrupt and could not be bought off. I liked that about the character.
The NAACP needs to get a life.
