Bringing old game shows back

With the new success that GSN has been getting with teh additions of "Press your Luck" and "Let's Make a dEal" and all that, I'm surprised that no one has had ideas to bring back the old shows on TV. In Entertainment Weekly, even Peter Tomarken, the host of "PYL", was amazed about how GSN was doing because of his show. They should bring that show back, and especially they should try again with "Let's Make a Deal", and "Match Game". I know who would make a great host for LMAD: that guy who gets people to buy Dell Computers in the commercials because the way he hawks them sounds like something Monty Hall would do.

They've been trying to bring LMAD back. At one point, Rosie O'Donnell was named as a possibility. :p Bad if you ask me.

They've brought back Match game twice and failed both times. I doubt third time's a charm. IMO, today's stars aren't all that interesting.

I agree with that last point! Take for example Louie Anderson doing Family Feud, he just isn't as good of a host as Combs and Dawson were.

I tried watching Louie's Feud the other day (at the same time as Dawson's Feud no less; picture in picture is great!) and first I yelled at Louie (he reads the fast money questions too slow) and the really stupid contestants, then I got bored. I wish someone would tell me what the big attraction to Louie's version is; I can't figure it out.

While you may not like Louie, the viewers like Louie, and it appears that people that visit the Game Show Network site seem to like Louie, he didn't win the survey of favorite host, but he most certainly did not do all that poorly.

"Steve" doing Lets Make a Deal? I doubt that would work. Like Dan Cortese and Tabitha Soren ( remember when those two were supposed to be the hottest stars of the 90s ? in fact Soren for awhile claimed she was the reason Bill Clinton got elected in 92 for president.) I dont think he "Steve" has staying power the same way Monty Hall or for that matter any of the other game show hosts from the 80s and before.

As far as a return of game shows on broadcast tv. May see a few more but nowhere near as much as it was in the past. I myself remember when NBC/ABC/ and CBS had tons of games during its daytime.

But thanks to Sally, Maury, Rosie, Montell, Springer, Amanada, Iyyana ( ? ), Judge Judy, Talk&Walk, Jenny Jones, Dick Clark, The View, The extra hour of Today, more court shows, COPS, ect..
Even local news which many stations broadcast even during the 9 and 10am hours. This will prevent the return of many game shows.

My opinion the future of game shows will be on channels like Game Show Network.

I would like to see them split the day with half for classic shows and the other half with new stuff.

Or like I have said with TV Land, GSN should like VH1 and MTV create multiple channels. Like one channel just for the classics and one for new shows. Like a TV Land for the 50s shows, one for the 60s ect...

It would work !!

And that's fine; I just wanted to know what people liked about him. Do they think he's funny, do they like his interaction with the contestants, etc.

Do I like him? Sure do! I think he's a great host, he has great interaction, and he is funny.

I'm with you, dawsongirl. The set of the new Feud looks cheap, and I don't care for Louie at all, although some people do seem to like him. The Feud format is still good, though, and there's not much other game show competition, so I'm not surprised that this is still on.

Yeah, the set looks cold, almost robotic. And true about the competition. What is there? WOF, Jeopardy (which were on when the original Feud was on!), Hollywood Squares, TTTT, Card Sharks (both of which aren't doing that well). And about 100 talk shows. I'll give it that; I'd watch it over a talk show.

I for one use to watch the Anderson version of FF and it needs alot of work. I have yet to see the new Card Sharks and I actually think that John O' Hurley could possibly find another job as a game show host. I'd give him a shot at Now You See It or My new version of Password

Ive seen the Family Feud with Louie Anderson, I thought it was ok, but, I agree with you guys, it needs some work. I also saw the new Card Sharks, and, it was pretty interesting, but it just wasnt as good as the original.
Instead of just saying 'freeze!' you had to use a 'clip chip' and they'd show a film, sorta like 'candid camera', like, they hired someone to work in a restaurant and ask a customer if she could help him get fired, and you had to determine whether or not the customer would help the worker, and if u were right, you would earn the freeze. I like it, but, I like the original version better.
Id love to see some other old shows come back, preferably, If like to see Treasure Hunt come back.

I too would love to see a remake of Treasure Hunt. There is some interesting trivia about the G. Edwards Treasure Hunt, fact was ONLY women were allowed to play. Reason being is that the show felt it was more fun to see the girls hunt for the boxes instead of men.

Family Feud/ Louie Anderson. Agree with pretty much what is said about the show. My cousin for some reason was taping something else but some how got 20 minutes of this show too on tape. Watching it she pointed out that if you look really close it appears that Louie Anderson could be missing some teeth.

I have seen Family feud many of times myself and have never seen him missing teeth but I have noticed in some of the close up scenes he did for other shows in the past that Anderson does have a rather large gap between his front teeth. I havent really noticed it on Family Feud however.

Wonder if the show took him to the dentist and had his gap/teeth fixed? I have heard that some shows actually had their stars go through a massive makeover including face lifts, teeth re-done, tummy tucks and so forth, just so they would look good on tv.

I havent watched Louie's Feud in a while, but Im pretty sure I saw his gap in there. And, about the women in Treasure Hunt, I heard that, and I also heard that they used women because they would be less likely to retaliate against the host. If guys were playing, they would probably knock him out if they lost the $50,000 check. haha!
