i don't know if those ratings are good or not, but the show was a little flat

and the guy running the LAUGH TRACK machine needs to back it off a bit - he would hit that thing every time there was a pause in the dialogue, whether it followed a joke or not.

It has a live audience. No laugh track. Ratings were good, highest rated series premiere for ABC Family among A18-49. Now shows like Pretty Little Liars and Secret Life grew from their premieres, so hopefully M&J does, too.

I think Melissa and Joey have awesome on-screen chemistry which is the secret ingredient that raises any TV show from good to great. I'm looking forward to watching more episodes.

I agree, they do have great chemistry. I am really enjoying this show. I hope it does well enough in the ratings to stay around for a while.


The ratings for the next few episodes will be critical and I hope the show does well enough that they decide to film a full season.

Agreed--both "Ruby and The Rockits" and "10 Things I Hate About You" had great initial buzz but both quickly petered out (although "10" did manage a second season)

Yet ABC Family expected 10 Things to somehow to huge numbers with no other original shows airing at that time. Ahh, the stupidity of networks sometimes. :lol:

ABC Family is smartly airing encores after the morning Sabrina and afternoon Sabrina once a week each. I think cable series benefit from repeats/encores during the week, that is why some grow during the original airings.

Politician (Mel Burke, played by MJH) hires a manny (Joey Lawrence) to look after her niece and nephew, who are living with her because their mom (Mel's sister) is in jail. Mel is a former party girl, who's trying to straighten out her life. Joey is working for Mel because his job as a corporate went under, thanks to Mel's brother-in-law.

Last night's episode was good!!! It looks like slow and steady may win the race!

Melissa Joan Hart and Joey Lawrence are obviously fantastic together, but how are you liking the supporting cast so far? What do you think of Taylor Spreitler (aka Lennox)?

It certainly sounds like a laugh track to me. This show is really not funny. Joey Lawrence acts like he is posing for GQ instead of being in a sitcom.

if you listen to the laughter it really sounds like a laugh track sometimes - especially in the pilot episode, where there is laughter in between EVERY line of dialog, and especially when the laughter sounds almost exactly the same from episode to episode.

...just because they film in front of a live audience doesn't mean they don't add in laugh track afterwards

that being said, I don't think that there is anything WRONG with using a laugh track, as long as they don't overdo it. I like the show overall, they just need to work on the writing a little bit and get an actual friend or two for MJH's character - even if they just work her assistant into the plots more.
