"Friday Night Lights'" Final Season Gets Premiere Date

"Friday Night Lights" will kick off its final season on Wednesday, Oct. 27 on DirecTV, according to Entertainment Weekly.
An NBC premiere date has not yet been announced.
The football drama wrapped production on the 13-episode Season 5 in Texas this summer — shortly after stars Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton earned their first Emmy nominations for lead actor and lead actress in a drama series, respectively.
NBC saved the critically acclaimed but ratings-challenged series from cancellation in 2008 when it struck a deal to air new episodes first on DirecTV.
In 2009, NBC ordered two more seasons under the same arrangement.
An e-mail to DirecTV was not immediately returned.
