The first shows I ever watched? Well, I was born in '87 so I was subjected to growing up watching horrible shows. I grew up on Full House and Family Matters, which aren't horrible but are still kinda blah, plus a bunch of cartoons like the Smurfs, Care Bears, Gummy Bears (am I the only one who remembers this cartoon? my sister and I used to watch it all the time when I was, like, 4, and she doesn't even remember it...). Then when I was little there were the "wonderful" Snick shows Clarissa Explains it All and Round House... And of course Boy Meets World (the first 3 seasons were the best)... anyway... But if you want to know the first show I loved from the very first time I watched it, it was without a doubt Laverne & Shirley. But I'll shut up now...
------------------
"Well, Laverne is sort of childish"
"Childish? Childish? COming from a grown woman who throws tea parties for her stuffed cat!"
"Well at least I don't sew L's on everything I wear!"
"Well that would be pretty stupid considering your name's Shirley!"

Now i still watch nickelodeon but the shows now are dumb like spongebob squarepants and catdog.

When I was very young I remember Diff'rent Strokes, and later Facts of Life, Family Ties, Growing Pains and Full House as some of my favorites. I also liked the A-Team... as a kid I idolized Mr. T. My brother liked Miami Vice but was not allowed to watch it. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif And LaverneShirley, I DO remember the Gummi Bears, it was one of my little sister's favorite cartoons, along with Rainbow Brite and She-Ra: Princess of Power. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif

Does anyone remember a show called "Hangin' In?" As I recall, it was from Canada, and it was a show about a man and woman that were counselors for troubled teens. It was a comedy, and I remember the lady was blonde and the guy had dark curly hair (he now reminds me of a tall Billy Crystal). As I also recall, it had a catchy theme. That's a show I'd like to see again, just to remember.
Oh, and of course, I still LOVE to watch The Electric Company. Movin on in a new way.............

I remember Under the Umbrella Tree!! I was born in '85 and I loved that show! Especially Jacob and Gloria!! Others shows I watched include Happy Days, Cheers, I Love Lucy, and Newhart.
OK, question for all of you. This has been bugging me for a long time. There was this show, and I think it was canadien. But I remember it very vaguely and cannot begin to remember the name of the show. It took place at a department store and soem of the characters were a mannequin that came to life, a window dresser, a night watchman (puppet), and a mouse named Muffy. Anyone know anything about this?

The first show I remember watching was scooby doo..... I honestly don't remember watching sitcoms until I was older. I grew up with brothers, so I remember watching the A Team and Knight Rider, but I was older at that point. I remember watching Happy Days and Lavern and Shirley as a youngster. And for some reason, I recall watching Benji.

Titania,
I remember that show. It was called "Today's Special" with the mannequin named Jeff.
Does anyone remember a show called "Small Wonder" where a family adopts a robot girl. It was such a lame show when I look back but I thought it was really cool at the time.
I grew up with the NBC sitcoms of the early 80's - they don't make them like they used to!

I was born in '71 (I'm gonna be 30 on
Jan. 25!), so my first shows were Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers, Electric Company, and ZOOM! I got NOGGIN! for my birthday, so I've got classic eps. of SS and TEC on tape! http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/wink.gif
I was born in '90, I can recall watching Ellen and Roseanne when I was about five or six. I'm not a fan of either of them, besides, when I was little I didn't get what was going on.I'd much rather watch the classics. I wish I would've been born in the 70's, I love all the 70's and 80's sitcoms.

I really didn't pay TOO much attention to sitcoms that were still running. I remember enjoying The Wonder Years and Family Matters. I can remember 227 also. I watched lots of N@N though, like The Lucy Show and Welcome Back Kotter.

I grew up on both the late 80 - 1990's shows and the classics cause where I live (to my knowledge) we got nick/N@N the day it debuted (of course,, I'm not 100% sure since it debuted in 85 and I was born in 86.)

i agree.. i can remember when i was little i would stay up late at nite with my mom and watch NBC's classic Saturday night lineup, Facts of life, The Golden Girls, Empty nest and night court.. these are the kind of shows that will never be made again because the time's have changed too much, back in the 80's television was just about fun and entertianment.. but know it has changed into a serious business and the networks do not care about quality they only care about making a quick buck.
Well the first show that got me hooked on classic TV was "Full House" I used ot watch it daily on UPN then WGN then TBS meaning I saw 6 episodes a day!
The first show I ever watched was "Cheers" me and my mom watched it until I was three when it got canned

The first shows I ever watched were Captain Kangaroo, I Dream of Jeanie, and Mork and Mindy. Some cartoons too.....too many to list! It wasnt one of the first, but I loved Small Wonder. http://www.sitcomsonline.com/ubb/smile.gif
But this is too cool. I have actually found people that like Blossom and Love Sidney. Now have any of you heard of a show called Special Delivery? It was about a postman. I think it was on Nickeloden in the 80's and there was another show on Nick about a manequin who came to life. Anyone know the name of this show?? It is driving me buggy trying to figure it out!!
My firts encounter with classic TV was really a episode of Phyllis on Nick@Nite it came really really late at night and I was in my room.
I always watched MTM and I knew about "Rhoda" witch I saw earlier that night.
I was about 5 or 4 I don't know anyway I said to my brother, though he was asleep, "Hey look I didn't know Phyllis had her own TV show!"
Oh you just don't know how bad I want to see that show know.
The seen I remember is Phyllis opening the door and someone named "Dexter" sitting waiting for her.
I heard and saw the theme but I was so young.
I would really pay $$ to see all of N@N's early schedule.
------------------
All:Ahhhhh
Mrs. Garret: girls there's nothing to worry about.
Nancy:MIS-SUS GAR-RET!

Tootie:I just got the highest girls score.
Blair:Well it couldn't be little old me it couldn't be me.
Tootie:Yur right Blair it isn't you!
From the simpsons:
Announcer:Diners everywhere are going on strike saying chants like...
Florence Jean Castleburry:Kiss Mah Grits.
Prof.:That stuff can blow up.
Mary:My dishes
Ging:My jewlery
Skip:My nails
Howell:My golf balls
Miss.H:My goodness!

The first shows I ever watched- The Six Million Dollar Man, Loony Tunes, and Happy Days.
I also remember "The Bob Newhart Show" I always thought Jerry was Bob because I always saw him on the screen!
I thought it was a show about love (NewHeart, get it?)then I thought it was about a guy who has to get a new heart.
This still the "Full House" Cheers" and "Phyllis" "MTM" and "Rhoda" show era.So I was to young to understand!

Barney Miller
The Bob Newhart Show
That Girl
Phyllis

The Mary Tyler Moore Show
The Munsters
The Addams Family
Chico and the Man
Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C.
My Favorie Martian
Dennis the Menace
