I've been meaning to ask his question for a while, since the episode ran a few months ago on ALN...

As everyone knows by now, Rhoda was born in December, 1941. She decided to move out of the house when she was 24 - which brings us to 1965 - and ended up in Minneapolis.

At the end of season 4, there is a two part episode in which Ida, Benny, Rhoda, Jack and Brenda end up stranded in a vacant restaurant far away from home. Rhoda mentions something to Brenda (secretively) about this reminding her of when she went to Vermont for the weekend with some boy in 1969, and told her mother 'something else' since she was still living with her parents, and they wouldn't have approved.

How can this be when she ran away in 1965, and didn't return until 1974? She was in Minneapolis when she 'ran away to Vermont' in 1969, correct?

Great catch on those inconsistencies, but keep in mind you're asking these questions about a woman who had a sister named Debbie in 1973, but somehow every trace of Debbie's existence evaporated by 1974. Debbie even managed to vanish from those old home movies.

Debbie and her brother Arnold (remember the mentions of Arnold on MTM?)!

I vaguely remember hearing about Arnold. I think it's too bad they let those characters vanish that way, and leave us scratching our heads. They could have easily written them out if they had no need for those characters. Debbie was married, so maybe she and her husband had to move somewhere far away for a job. And Debbie could have been a better excuse for Ida and Martin's absence in the third season: Debbie has a baby and Ida and Martin go to spend time with their first grandchild.

Good question. Rhoda would've been in Minneapolis in '69, b/c it seemed like she'd been living there for some time before Mary moved in. When things like this come up, I always try to find a logical way around it, but I don't think there is one for this!

So because of this goof, they must have Harper dub her lines and say something like...1961! LOL!
