Lindsay Lohan Sentenced to 90 Days in Jail for Probation Violation
Jul 6, 2010
by Kate Stanhope

Lindsay Lohan was sentenced to 90 days in jail Tuesday for violating her probation.

The 24-year-old actress, who cried in court during the sentencing, was also ordered to complete a 90-day inpatient substance abuse program by Judge Marsha Revel.

Lohan was found in violation of her probation after missing seven Alcoholics Anonymous classes during a 27-week period. She has been on probation since August 2007 after pleading guilty to drug charges and no contest to three driving charges.

In May, Lohan was ordered to wear an alcohol-monitoring bracelet after missing a mandatory court hearing.

Lohan will continue to wear the court-ordered bracelet until she surrenders for jail on July 20 at 8:30 a.m. Lohan will serve her time at Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, Calif., where she previously served 84 minutes behind bars in 2007.

Before her sentencing, Lohan stood up to appeal directly to Judge Revel and said she had been led to believe she was in compliance with the program.

"As far as I knew, I was being in compliant with my Right On program. When I would ask to leave town, they would give me permission to leave town," Lohan said.

"I did do everything I was told to do."

Lohan teared up in court and said that if she had known she was violating her probation, she would have done things differently.

"I'm not taking this as a joke. It's my life, it's my career," Lohan said to the judge. "It's just been such a long haul and I don't want you to think that I don't respect you and your terms."

Lohan's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, said Lohan is determined to finish her mandatory classes and is currently "ahead of track to finish the program."

Prosecutor Danette Meyers, however, argued that the court had failed to catch Lohan's attention. "I appreciate the tears, but I don't think you've caught it," Meyers said.

Before the sentencing, Judge Revel said she couldn't have been more clear about what she expected from Lohan to finish the program. "Nowhere did I say substantial compliance would be good enough," she said.

Although he did not testify, Lohan's father, Michael Lohan, was present at the hearing and submitted a letter to the court asking that his daughter be ordered to inpatient rehab and that her prescription drug use be carefully monitored, according to TMZ.

Additionally, in an e-mail to TVGuide.com, Michael Lohan wrote, "Our position is Lindsay does NOT need Jail, she needs rehab," he said.

I really hope this will be a wake-up call for Lindsay Lohan and she will use this as an opportunity to turn around her life.

Not sure if Lindsay really knows what rock bottom is.

I seriously believe this will not be the wake up call.
She will absolutely be in trouble again before the end of the year.

If anything, she'll probably come out of this whole experience with an attitude.

Who is she kidding with those excuses? She was absolutely out there involved with the wrong element and partaking in who knows what.

The judge is probably saving Lindsay's life. How many young Hollywood performers have ended up in a bad way. Lindsay became famous very young, and that's difficult for some to handle. Her parents battling didn't help matters either. She may come out of this. Britney Spears was on a real downwood spiral, yet she's back on track today. I wish Lindsay the best.

Even though I don't really like her, I have to say that I actually felt bad for her. Maybe it's just my hormones, who knows. The girl needs a whole new set of friends and her mother also needs a wake up call.

From the footage I've seen of her lately, she looks so awful. Her skin looks like its aged before its time, her eyes are bloodshot and she just looks so spaced out. If she's not careful, she'll end up like Andy Gibb or Chris Farley or John Belushi.

While I think she needs some serious attention, and perhaps even jail time, I don't understand (and never will) this tendency everyone on the news has to enjoy watching someone's life unravel. It is OK because she's young and rich and "hot"? Is it just backlash against her celebrity? Jealousy? I dunno.

She's obviously headed toward hurting herself or someone else or both, so she needs something fairly drastic to help her alter her course, because she's obviously not doing it herself.

But I kind of grow tired of the snickering and the joy over her (and others') disintegration.

For her sake and the sake of those close to her, I hope she does wake up and turn things around before it's too late. But she's 24 years old now and has to take responsibility for her actions. I know that her parents didn't help and (especially in the case of the mother) see/saw her as a meal ticket. She needs to get in touch with Paul Petersen (The Donna Reed Show), who runs A Minor Consideration - which helps child actors, past and present, try to live normal lives and turn things around. Plus, Mr. Petersen really cares about his fellow child actors and wants to help. You can tell by his writings:

Sadly I have to admit Lindsay doesn't appear to have learned anything or have made any changes at all in her life. She is headed down a very dark road if that doesn't change very very soon. :(

I'm glad she got 3 months in jail. LOL@her crying when she heard the judge's decision hahahahahahahahahahahaha. That's what her ass gets for constantly getting in trouble. It seems like she's in the newspaper every week for doing something stupid hahahahahahahahahahaha. That's nice of her dad to wanna help her change her ways and her mom acts like her ex-husband isn't doing a good thing. Her mom got some issues too. Her acting career is over. So she might as well start looking for a job when she gets outta jail LOL. Nobody watches her movies. So she needs to get another career.

Doubtful that this will be any kind of a wake-up call for her.

Every time a young celebrity dies, everyone says it'll be a wake up call for others. If the deaths of all these young stars in recent years has no effect on Lohan, then this won't either.

In fact, I'll go out on a limb and say it...that whole crying bit was an act. She might be crying about going to jail, but she shows no signs of actually wanting to straighten out what's left of her life.

Let's see, she's 24 now? No way she makes it to 30...unless she gets sent to jail for six years.

Lindsay Lohan's big jail payday

Last Updated: 9:13 AM, July 13, 2010

Posted: 11:54 PM, July 12, 2010

Lindsay Lohan may soon be on her way to prison, but her legal woes are turning into her biggest payday in years. Bids for the troubled starlet's pre- and post-prison interview are now coming in at over $500,000.

Major TV networks -- which technically don't pay for interviews but often get around that by paying for pictures -- are putting in bids by joining forces with weekly magazines to score the big jailhouse chat.

Meanwhile, an increasingly desperate Lohan was close to signing lawyer Robert Shapiro, who defended OJ Simpson in his murder trial, in a bid to overturn her 90-day sentence, which is to start July 20.

A source told Page Six, "The irony is Lindsay is in demand. The bidding is over $500,000 for the rights to the pre-jail interview, the prison diary and the first chat when she is released.

"But Lindsay is still convinced she'll get a reduced term -- even if she has to go to rehab afterwards for longer. She has spoken to a number of lawyers over the weekend. She's even seeing a psychic for guidance."

On Saturday, Lohan met with Chicago-based lawyer Stuart V. Goldberg, who told us, "Her life is a perfect storm. I think she is a wounded child. She is very fractured. She is overwhelmed. She doesn't seem to have full awareness of what's going to befall her. No client recognizes the gravity of the situation until they hear those bars close. You have to numb yourself to exist under the gaze of 3 billion eyes every day."

Goldberg said he advised Lohan to move out of Los Angeles, "away from bad company, and to somewhere like New York or Chicago, where she'd have a better chance at complying with her probation."

But he said, "I feel she would be better served by a local attorney, and I think she'll go with Robert Shapiro." Shapiro's office did not return calls last night. Mike Heller, who is negotiating some media offers for Lohan, told us there was "huge interest" but declined to comment further.

Lindsay should just represent herself - that ALWAYS works in those Disney movies.

this whole story always reminds me of that time Lindsay hosted SNL and she does the monologue which parodied her downward spiral and she gets visited by a future version of herself after she hit rock bottom; the punchline being of course that her future self was from only 3 years in the future (the episode aired on Saturday May 21, 2005 so it wasn't all that far off the mark).

Lindsay Lohan Reports For Prison
July 20th, 2010

Lindsay Lohan has begun her 90-day jail sentence after surrendering to Los Angeles authorities on Tuesday morning.

The Mean Girls star was handed the punishment by Los Angeles Judge Marsha Revel earlier this month for violating probation on a 2007 DUI arrest by failing to attend court-ordered alcohol education classes.

She checked into a sober living facility last week on the advice of her then-legal adviser Robert Shapiro, who suggested he'd be representing the troubled actress in court.

Lohan's assistant was spotted moving her belongings out of the rehab center, Pickford Lofts, on Monday - hours before it became clear Shapiro, who once represented O.J. Simpson, would not be her lawyer.

The actress returned to Beverly Hills Superior Court on Tuesday to report to jail, accompanied by Shawn Chapman Holley, who previously quit as Lohan's legal representative. She clarified that Shapiro had never been officially appointed as her client's replacement lawyer and had simply been acting as Lohan's legal consultant.

Lohan's estranged father Michael and her mother Dina were present for the brief hearing.

The 24 year old will serve her term at the Lynwood Correctional Facility, the same detention center which housed Paris Hilton in 2007 when she was found guilty on a similar charge.

Nicole Richie and Daryl Hannah have also served time behind bars there.

Michael Lohan added to the drama in court by screaming out, "I love you Lindsay" as the actress was cuffed and led away. The Mean Girls star looked scared and serious as she was taken into custody at 8.48am local time.

I don't understand the glee with which so many people greet the news of this woman's downfall. She's a total wreck, obviously, and if she isn't stopped she will end up hurting herself or someone else in a car accident, but honestly, is she really deserving of such utter hatred? She's sick and regardless of how old she is physically, her emotional age is probably a LOT less, probably pre-teen.

How many of us would have had the willpower to "turn out OK" with parents like she has, coupled with fame and fortune (and temptation) at such a terribly early age? I'm not saying she isn't responsible for her actions; she is, obviously. But those actions need to be viewed in a certain context if we are going to be fair, and given those circumstances, I wonder how well any of us would have fared. I'm guessing not much better.

I hope she straightens her life out, as Monika has commented. Unlike Paris Hilton, Lindsay IS a talented person. She seems to have a lot to offer the world in terms of acting.

Let's just pray she takes this punishment/wake up call seriously; it might be the last one she gets.

I think Lindsay needs to make a clean break from her parents, period. She also may want to get in touch with Paul Petersen (The Donna Reed Show), who runs A Minor Consideration. That's a non-profit organization designed to help out both current and former child stars. If I were able to give her advice - that's what I would advise her to do.

As harsh as it sounds you are absolutely right. If Lindsay is going to turn a her life around she needs to distance herself from her family. And I'm guessing that's exactly what Paul Petersen would tell her.

It is probably because of overcrowding. The L.A. County Jail system is one
of the most overcrowded jail systems in this country.

would not be capable of any such positive emotions toward humanity.

90 days in jail might have helped her in her battle against drugs and alcohol. I mean that would be 90 days she'd be sober. It would be easier to try and continue her life without it. But this 14 day sentence won't help her at all. She'll just be at the point where she's craving it enough to go back to it.

I don't hate Lindsay, but I was happy when I read she got sentenced to 90 days in jail. Only because I thought this could help her. But this is ridiculous.

Lindsay Lohan Released from Jail, Heads to Rehab
Aug 2, 2010
by Joyce Eng

Lindsay Lohan was released from jail Monday after serving 13 days behind bars and immediately began a 90-day stint in rehab.

Lohan was released at 1:35 a.m. from the Lynwood Correctional Facility and taken directly to a treatment facility as required, Los Angeles Sheriff's Deputy Benjamin Grubb told TVGuide.com.

He said he does not know where Lohan was taken

The actress had been serving a 90-day sentence for violating her probation from a 2007 DUI case, but served a reduced sentence due to overcrowding and good behavior. Sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore had said she was expected to serve 13 to 15 days.

Judge Marsha Revel originally ordered Lohan to report to an in-patient substance abuse program within 24 hours of leaving jail, but last week ordered her to report directly to rehab, Grubb said.

Lohan is also subject to random drug testing until August 2011, when her probation ends.

After serving 22 days in court-ordered rehab, Lindsay Lohan has been released, Us Magazine reports.

The 24-year-old was sentenced in July to 90 days behind bars for violating probation from a 2007 DUI charge. She was released from the correctional facility after just 13 days due to overcrowding and good behavior.

She immediately reported to an inpatient substance abuse program at UCLA Medical Center.

Lohan's next hearing is scheduled for Wednesday morning at a Beverly Hills courthouse.

A call to Lindsay Lohan's attorney was not immediately returned.
