Well, hopefully that subject line grabbed your attention. I have a question for all of you Eighties specialists out there. It may not have been a sitcom, but hopefully someone will recall this show. It featured a group of investigators/detectives/something like that, living on a boat. They had a huge orange robot that clumsily helped them out. During the opening titles of the show, they always played a clip of the robot falling overboard into the water, and everyone onboard laughing. And, get this(I may be just dreaming this part:confused:, one of the characters was a guy who either looked a lot like or was Panama Jack. Yes, that Panama Jack, the guy from the clothing logo. I could be totally out in left field on that part, I was just a kid at the time, but good Lord, it seems a vivid memory. Any help would grounds for an e-foot kissing. Thanks so much for any info.

I believe you are referring to "Riptide," the 1984-1986 detective show/Magnum P.I. deal featuring Perry King.
One character was a computer whiz known as Boz, who had a robot known as "Roboz" which had a tendency to break down from time to time.

Thanks for the reply TJL. I had thought that it could be Riptide, but when I searched the internet, I couldn't find any references to the robot or the guy in the hat, so I thought I was barking up the wrong tree. Now I have more reason to search for info on that show, just to satisfy my freakish obsession. Thanks again!

Don't thank me, thank "The Complete Directory To Network And Cable Primetime TV Shows 1946-Present". I figured the show was probably Riptide, but they had the cast list and a blurb about the robot. I highly reccomend this book to anyone. It's the best.
Did you check the Internet Movie Database (www.IMDB.com)? They will probably have a cast listing and maybe some links for the show.
