Miley Cyrus can't catch a break. It seems like the world refuses to let her grow up. Everyone expects her to stay Hannah Montana forever, but it's time to face the facts -- it's not going to happen. She can't be tamed, and the more she's criticized, the more likely it becomes that she'll lash out with more risque outfits and girl-on-girl kissing. Come on, she's a 17-year-old teenage girl. They don't want to be told what they can and can't do. What's really bizarre is why the world is so focused on her when there are other teen stars acting the same way. Honestly, ever since 'Gossip Girl' star Taylor Momsen started wearing excessive dark eye makeup, donning her now trademark thigh-high garters and declared her hatred for wearing pants, why have we accepted that it's okay for this 16-year-old to be a role model ... when Cyrus is criticized for taking a wrong breath. Both underage girls rose to fame as cute actresses and then decided to hit the mainstream music scene. For the record, Momsen is younger than Cyrus. Gasp! So what's with the double standard?
Momsen started her career at age three with a national commercial for Shake 'N' Bake. In 2000, Momsen earned her first major role, playing Cindy Lou Who in 'How the Grinch Stole Christmas' opposite Jim Carrey. She was so cute! Interestingly, she auditioned for the title role in 'Hannah Montana' and was in the top three, but the role was instead awarded to Cyrus. They're not so different after all.
