I watched the episode last night when Freddie and his friend came to California but I remember there being a episode of Freddie where George and Max go to Chicago.

I don't see it listed on tv.com but I remember seeing George and Max in Chicago on Youtube about 3 years ago.

Yes. It was a cross-over with the show Freddie, so it aired as a Freddie episode. Episode 18 "Freddie Gets Cross Over George." The first part aired as a George Lopez episode, episode 98 "George Gets Cross Over Freddie."
