Based on a real event, LOOPED takes place in the summer of 1965, when an inebriated Tallulah Bankhead stumbles into a sound studio to rerecord (or ‘loop’) one line of dialogue for her last movie --Die, Die, My Darling. Ms. Bankhead was known for her wild partying and convention-defying exploits that surpassed even today’s celebrity bad girls. Given her intoxicated state and inability to loop the line properly, what ensues is an uproarious showdown between an uptight film editor, Danny Miller, and the outrageous legend. Just to update everyone...

After 27 previews, and 25 performances, "Looped" abruptly shuttered for good on April 11, 2010. Producers posted the closing notices just days prior to the final curtain.

The 900 seat theater was averaging about 35-40% capacity each night (never breaking the $200,000 mark at the box-office), not able to cover it's operating costs since it's opening on March 19. As the days went on, attendance fell. The producers didn't see any hope in sight, with the third weekend (April 2-4) being the worst, so they decided to cut their losses and close the show immediately.

There is talk that a North American tour will kick off at the end of the summer, starting in Toronto, with Harper still the lead actress. However, nothing has been confirmed.

There is a silver lining in this cloud, at least for Harper...

Despite the show getting mostly negative reviews, Harper's performance was a stand-out, garnering mostly excellent reviews. There's buzz behind the curtains that Harper not only will get a Tony nod in a few weeks, but she may go home with the award this June.
